One of the Largest Gas Distributors Bets on App, Data, and Partnerships to Capture Expected Increase in Consumption with the New Federal Government Social Program.
Nacional Gás, one of the largest LP Gas distributors in Brazil, is preparing for a digital leap. The company aims to streamline orders and deliveries with an app for resellers, inspired by marketplaces. The plan seeks efficiency, data, and scale gains.
The strategy aligns with Gás do Povo, a federal program that will provide free refills of the 13 kg gas cylinder for families registered in CadÚnico. The enrollment of resellers began on October 23, and the transition starts in November.
The company estimates demand increase in the sector of 7% by 2026. To meet this demand, it has opened an annual cycle of R$ 150 million in technology and anticipates R$ 350 million more for the purchase of cylinders.

China is no longer cheaper because of labor, but because it has entire cities built around a single product for 40 years, and this is something that Vietnam, India, and Mexico will never be able to replicate no matter how much they try.

Tilapia giant puts R$ 12 million on the table, inaugurates mega factory in Brazil, and will process up to 20 tons of fish per day, creating jobs and strengthening family farming.

The “blusinhas tax” was canceled in May 2026, and now the government has already confirmed that it will charge tax again on international purchases starting in 2027, this time with no value limit.

Not even the end of the ‘roller coaster’ described by the price of Brent crude oil (the main global benchmark) – which jumped from a price of $72 to $120, then dropped to $76 per barrel – due to the recent peace agreement between the US and Iran, was enough to relieve the Brazilian economy from inflationary pressures.
With 25.06% market share, Nacional Gás is one of the largest sellers of LPG in the country, along with Copa Energia. The ANP maintains a public panel that monitors the market.
Executives say the app, styled “iFood of the cylinder,” is already the main ordering channel in the pilot phase. The focus is on reducing operational time and integrating credit, inventory, and logistics into one flow.
Gás do Povo Changes Logistics and Can Accelerate Refills
Gás do Povo replaces Auxílio Gás with some changes and promises free refills of the P13 at accredited resellers. The goal is to reach more than 15 million families and around 50 million people.
MME opened the accreditation of resellers on October 23. Caixa will perform the electronic validation and payment within two business days for those who deliver the refill. Enrollment is voluntary.
According to the government, with 100% coverage, the program could achieve 65 million refills per year starting in 2026, altering the purchasing rhythm of retailers.
App “Minha Revenda” Aims to Be the Hub for LPG Resellers
Minha Revenda centralizes orders, credit balances, consumption history, and schedule for cylinder exchanges. The idea is to provide visibility of inventory and demand forecasting.
In the pilot, 4,3 thousand of over 6 thousand partners are already operating on the app, according to the company. The goal is to serve 100% by 2026, with orders migrating from 0800 and the website.
The company compares the experience to popular marketplaces like iFood. The design aims to reduce purchasing friction and standardize routines among resellers spread across the country.
Investment, ERP, and AI: The Data Engine of Grupo Edson Queiroz
The controlling group reported R$ 12.8 billion in revenue and R$ 1.7 billion in EBITDA in 2024, a 36% increase over 2023. The agenda includes SAP S/4HANA and a corporate AI core.
At Nacional Gás, the master plan anticipates R$ 750 million over five years, with an emphasis on technology and logistics. The goal is to transform the app into a digital service hub.
The collection of strategic data should improve route planning, production, and purchasing, reducing costs per delivery and fleet idleness.
Test with Zé Delivery and Direct Sales to Consumers
Meanwhile, the company is testing a partnership with Zé Delivery in MG and CE for direct sales to consumers via accredited resellers. National expansion has no set deadline.
Presence in convenience apps may shorten the delivery time of the P13 and expand capillarity in urban areas without dismantling the reseller network.
The brand is already promoting orders via Zé Delivery in marketing campaigns, aligning communication and operations in the digital channel.
Cylinder Bottleneck and Possible Imports to Meet Demand
With the forecast of +30 million annual loads in the sector, Sindigás sees a need for up to 10 million new cylinders by 2026, representing close to R$ 2 billion in sector investment.
Nacional Gás plans to produce 1 million new cylinders in 2026 and admits importing from China if local industry cannot meet demand. The current capacity totals 5.3 million/year.
In the short term, the company has reserved R$ 350 million for cylinders, in addition to technology capex, to keep pace with the Gás do Povo.
What Changes for Consumers and Resellers
For families on CadÚnico, the refill will be validated at the reseller with a card, CPF with code, or, in 2026, through the official app. The benefit does not include the cylinder or any potential shipping costs.
For the reseller, Caixa will pay for the refill within two business days after validated delivery. The rule follows an interministerial ordinance that sets the reference price by state.
In practice, digital flows and fast payment are likely to shorten working capital and bring more predictability to regional purchases and inventories.
