Even in the Face of Orders Not to Increase the Price of Gasoline, Fuel Prices Are Rising in Several Regions Due to Various Factors, Check It Out
After several consecutive weeks of falling fuel prices at the pumps, the price of gasoline, ethanol, and diesel are expected to rise again at stations in various regions of Brazil in the coming days. Even though the latest survey from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), conducted between October 1 and 8, does not yet reflect the rise in fuel prices, the adjustment is expected to occur in the coming days.
The warning was issued by the Retail Trade Union of Fuels, Oil Derivatives, Natural Gas, Biofuels, and Convenience Stores of the State of Paraná (Paranapetro).

Gasoline Price Increase Came Without Any Announcement of Fuel Price Adjustments
The union also stated in a note on Tuesday, the 11th, that even without any announcement of fuel price adjustments, distributors in Paraná and other regions are passing on some significant increases in gasoline, ethanol, and diesel.

“These increases are justified by distributors due to market factors, such as the international parity for imported fuels, the rise in ethanol prices by sugarcane mills, and the higher logistical and storage costs resulting from maintenance at the Getúlio Vargas Refinery (Araucária),” the union declared in the note.
Paranapetro did not disclose the adjustment rates passed on by the distributors.
Why Did Gasoline Prices Increase?
The increase in the price of gasoline can be justified by an announcement made by OPEC last week. This is because they declared that they would cut production by 2 million barrels of oil per day starting in November. This led to an immediate rise in the international oil price, consequently increasing gasoline prices and others.
This reasoning is also supported by the President of SindiCombustíveis Pernambuco, Alfredo Pinheiro Ramos. He explains that the increase in gasoline prices, which is beginning to be observed at some stations in Greater Recife, is triggered by a 3% to 4% rise in the purchasing price of oil, noted on Tuesday, the 11th.
