Xiaomi’s new air purifier combines a dual-flow system, six filter layers, and smart sensors to combat allergies, fine dust, and formaldehyde with up to 1.7 times greater efficiency than the previous generation, operating in near-absolute silence and integrated into the HyperOS smart home ecosystem.
Xiaomi has just unveiled the Mijia Air Purifier 6, an air purifier that promises to redefine performance standards in its category with immediately striking figures. According to Canal Tech, the device removes up to 99.99% of fine dust particles and pollution in just one hour, eliminates 99% of formaldehyde present in the environment within two hours, and reduces pollen allergens responsible for allergy attacks by 98.9%. All this while delivering a flow of 11,666 liters of clean air per minute, a volume the manufacturer claims is sufficient to completely renew the atmosphere of large spaces in just a few operating cycles.
What sets this model apart from competitors is not just its filtration speed, but the combination of technologies brought together in a single device. Xiaomi’s air purifier operates with a dual-flow architecture, two independent sets of filters and fans working simultaneously, yet it maintains noise at just 26.6 decibels, a sound level lower than a human whisper. For those who suffer from respiratory allergies or live in areas with high pollutant concentrations, the proposition is straightforward: hospital-grade air at home without realizing the device is on.
Dual Flow and Six-Layer Filtration

The technical heart of the Mijia Air Purifier 6 is the dual air-flow system that Xiaomi developed for this generation. Instead of relying on a single fan pulling air through a central filter, the device uses two independent fans combined with two filter sets, creating parallel air currents that drastically increase the purified volume per minute. According to the manufacturer, this architecture boosts particle purification efficiency by 1.7 times compared to the previous model.

Each air purifier filtration set is composed of six complementary layers. The first is a primary filter that retains larger particles like pet hair and lint. Next comes an antibacterial layer, a high-density formaldehyde filter, a nano-level precision filter capable of capturing ultrafine particles, an activated carbon layer for absorbing volatile chemical compounds, and finally, ultraviolet light for eliminating bacteria and viruses. Xiaomi stacked six distinct technological barriers to ensure that virtually nothing but clean air exits the other side. This multi-layer approach is what allows the device to simultaneously deliver dust removal, formaldehyde neutralization, and control of allergens that trigger allergy attacks.
Formaldehyde, Pollen, and Fine Dust: The Invisible Enemies

Formaldehyde is a colorless gas released by pressed wood furniture, paints, varnishes, and various household cleaning products. In enclosed spaces, its concentration can reach harmful levels without residents noticing, causing irritation to the eyes, throat, and respiratory tract. Xiaomi’s air purifier directly attacks this pollutant with a dedicated high-density filter, and the manufacturer states that 99% of the formaldehyde present in the environment is eliminated within two hours of continuous operation.
Pollen control follows a similar logic. Pollen particles are one of the most common triggers for respiratory allergies, especially during flowering seasons and in homes near green areas. The Mijia Air Purifier 6 reduces these allergens by up to 98.9%, a figure Xiaomi supports based on laboratory tests conducted before launch. For those suffering from seasonal allergies, the difference between a filtered environment and an untreated one can mean entire nights of uninterrupted sleep instead of sneezing fits and nasal congestion. As for PM10 removal, known as fine dust, it reaches 99.99% in just one hour, which positions the device as a relevant tool also for homes in urban centers with high atmospheric pollution.
Silence, sensors, and integration with the Xiaomi ecosystem
An air purifier that operates 24 hours a day needs to be silent, and Xiaomi designed the Mijia 6 to operate at just 26.6 decibels in continuous mode. For reference, this noise level is comparable to that of an empty library, meaning the device can be left on overnight in the bedroom without interfering with sleep quality. Even while delivering a maximum flow of 11,666 liters per minute, the acoustic engineering of the dual-flow system distributes vibration in a way that keeps the sound practically imperceptible.
The equipment also features six smart sensors that continuously monitor air quality, fine particle concentration, ambient temperature, and humidity. These sensors feed the device’s automatic decision filter, which adjusts fan speed in real-time as conditions change. Furthermore, the air purifier integrates natively with HyperOS, Xiaomi’s home automation ecosystem, allowing users to create automatic routines, such as turning on the device when the sensor detects a high concentration of formaldehyde or pollen, and turning it off when air quality reaches the ideal level.
Closed design, affordable price, and launch in China
Xiaomi also rethought the physical design of the purifier. Unlike previous models that featured an open top, the Mijia Air Purifier 6 comes with a completely closed top that prevents dust accumulation on the device. The resulting flat surface can be used as a small resting area, a functional detail that optimizes space in compact environments without compromising the product’s aesthetics.
The air purifier went on pre-sale in China with an initial price of 1,799 yuan, equivalent to approximately R$ 1,294 in direct conversion. Official sales are scheduled to begin in May. There is no confirmation yet from Xiaomi regarding the model’s availability in other markets, but the manufacturer’s history suggests that international versions usually arrive months after the domestic launch. For consumers suffering from allergies, living with pets, or residing in regions with high levels of pollution and formaldehyde, the Mijia 6 represents the most complete filter the line has ever produced.
And you, would you invest in a Xiaomi air purifier with this level of filtration? Pollen allergy, formaldehyde from new furniture, or urban dust: which of these problems most affects your routine? Leave your comment and tell us if a filter with six layers and smart sensors would make a difference in your home.
