The law numbered 23762/2021, which was sanctioned without any vetoes, establishes that the State of Minas Gerais may grant this ICMS tax exemption for distributed solar energy generation, reducing the rate to 0% after an agreement approved by Confaz. The proposal initially discussed by the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais, in PL 4054/2017, aimed to extend the ICMS exemption, created in 2017, to photovoltaic solar energy.
Enhancing and Stimulating GNV
This law also guarantees vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (GNV) the exemption from IPVA taxes only for those manufactured in the State. The Integrated Development Institute of Minas Gerais (Indi) reported that: “Among the main anchors of the solar energy and vehicles sector are Fiat, which has operated in Betim since 1976, Mercedes-Benz, which set up in Juiz de Fora in 1999, and Iveco, which has been in Sete Lagoas since 2000.”
