The Nordex Group, currently considered one of the largest manufacturers of wind turbines, formalized its intention to invest in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
According to information revealed by the aforementioned state government, the formalization of this intention was made on Friday (19), during the last commitment of the government’s official mission in Hamburg, Germany.
On this occasion, company representatives and Governor Eduardo Leite (PSDB) signed a document aimed at formalizing the intention. This occurred during a visit to the company’s headquarters, which was on the agenda of the Gaúcho government, which conducted an international mission in Germany.
Wind Energy in Rio Grande do Sul
According to the government of Rio Grande do Sul, state management has been working to enable investments that, initially, consist of building a tower factory aimed at meeting wind power projects to be implemented in the state.

According to the state administration, during the conversation with Nordex representatives, they learned that the company chose to invest in Rio Grande do Sul for various factors. Among them is, for example, the capacity of the installed transmission network.
According to Eduardo Leite, the future of Rio Grande do Sul lies in renewable energies. In this sense, he states that the state has great potential to be explored. “We are prepared to enable the conditions for this and other private investments in the area,” said the governor.

The Role of the Company and the State in the Partnership
According to the document that serves to establish the union of efforts between the parties, Nordex will function to collaborate with local universities to develop research programs in areas of interest and training for local labor.
Moreover, the company based in Germany also signed an agreement aimed at hiring, preferably, local companies and financing through financial institutions linked to the State.
On the other hand, the government of Rio Grande do Sul committed to enabling environmental licensing and the possibility of granting tax incentives compatible with the nature of the venture, through the deferral of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services.
