The Honda Sonic 150R Arrives on the International Market with an Affordable Price, Surpassing the Popular Pop 110i. Check Out the Details of This New Model from the Japanese Brand.
In this article, we will explore the Honda Sonic 150R, the 2023 model, a compact sports motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer available on the international market. The bike bears similarities to the Honda Pop 110i, known in Brazil. However, the Sonic 150R is still not available for sale in the Brazilian market. With the growing use of the Pop 110i in app taxi and delivery services, there is an expectation that this segment will gain even more prominence in the coming years.
New Honda Sonic 150R May Arrive for Under R$ 9 Thousand?
The price of the Honda Sonic 150R in Indonesia starts from 25,520 rupees, which is equivalent to R$ 8,127 based on the current exchange rate, not considering taxes or expenses. It is clear that this amount of R$ 8,127 would not apply to Brazil, and the expectation is that this bike, which surpasses the Pop 110i, imported to Brazil, would exceed 15 thousand reais.
The Honda Sonic 150R stands out compared to the Honda Pop 110i, featuring an extremely bold and updated sporty design. As can be seen in the images, its fairing is quite sporty, and it appears to be a high-powered speed bike.

Mitsubishi confirms the triumphant return of a car beloved by Brazilians that was discontinued after almost 40 years, based on the Triton, 4×4, and targets rival Toyota Land Cruiser in a plan of 13 SUVs.
Jokes aside, it is indeed a well-equipped bike that is worth acquiring compared to the Pop 110i. It is worth noting that the Honda Sonic 150R is a top-of-the-line version in India, featuring a completely revamped look and more sophisticated features such as conventional front suspension, painted black, and a completely digital dashboard that the Pop 110i lacks.
The Honda Sonic 150R features a fuel gauge, RPM, gear counter, which even some larger bikes than the Pop do not have.
Budget Bike May Surpass the Speed of the CBR 150R
Regarding engine and power, the Sonic 150R is equipped with a 149.16 cc engine. The cooling is liquid, capable of delivering 16 horsepower at 9,000 RPM and 1.38 kg meter of torque at 6,000 RPM.
This engine is a single-cylinder, working with a 6-speed setup. The Honda Sonic 150R features both electric and kick start, with a fuel tank capacity of 4 L and an engine efficiency of 40 km/l.
For comparison purposes, the Pop 110i sold in Brazil has a power output of 7.9 horsepower at 7,250 RPM and a torque of 0.90 kg meter at 5,000 RPM, and to further skew the comparison, the Pop has an outdated four-speed gearbox.
To give an idea, the CBR 150R has almost the same power as the Sonic 150R, as the CBR has 17 horsepower and the Sonic 16, being nearly the same. It is believed that the Sonic could achieve a final speed much higher than the CBR, not because of the fairing, but because the Sonic is lighter.
Design and Details of the New Rival of the Pop 110i
The chassis of the Sonic 150R is of the double tube type, providing a solid base for comfortable performance. The front suspension is conventional, as previously mentioned. Meanwhile, the rear is equipped with a monoShock suspension system, much more advanced than our Pop 110i.
To make this bike much more stylish, it features lightweight alloy wheels with a sporty design that the Pop does not have here in Brazil. The tire sizes are 70×90 for the 17-inch front and 80×90 for the 17-inch rear. To bring much more safety and comfort to this bike, it has dual disc brakes both front and rear. The Honda Sonic 150R weighs 114 kg with a fuel tank capacity of 4 liters.
