British Airways 747 Jet Bought For Just £1 (Around R$ 7) In 2020
The jet was bought for just £1 (around R$ 7) in 2020 and has since been a labor of love for the airport’s CEO, Suzannah Harvey. Suzannah said: “I paid a pound for it, and we have a certain obligation to keep it as practical for public use”… “The company had to spend nearly £500,000 preparing it here, but I think it’s money well spent and preserves it for future generations.”
Most of the original structure remained the same, but the transformation included removing the economy section to create the event space and converting the gallery into a bar.

A complete rewire with custom lighting was done, while one man also took a week and a half to give it a thorough clean inside and out.
Suzannah added: “It’s been an old job. It came to us in October 2020 and at the time, I naively thought we’d have it up and running by the following Easter.
“We had tremendous support from everyone. All the contractors, everyone who volunteered who are current BA 747 engineers – and here we are finally. It’s ready and good to go.”
Retired British Airways Jet Operated 13,398 Flights – Flying For 118,445 Hours Across Nearly 60 Million Miles
The Negus entered British Airways’ fleet on February 15, 1994, operating 13,398 flights – flying for 118,445 hours across nearly 60 million miles. Its last passenger flight was from Miami to Heathrow on April 6, 2020.
Anyone now wanting to host a party aboard will have to pay over £1,000 per hour, but Suzannah said she has been inundated with inquiries – including from Netflix.
Suzannah added: “The vision has finally come to fruition, with overwhelming support from volunteers, including BA’s current engineers and half a million pounds of investment later, the Negus 747 is finally ready.”
Negus Is The Only Custom-Made 747 Event Space In The World
“Preserved for many years and future generations, Negus is the only custom-made 747 event space in the world.”
Cotswold Airport is family-owned and operated and is the largest private airport in Europe, with a runway just 2m shorter than Bristol International.
Suzannah said an app will be launched soon to allow the general public to book tours with the aircraft. Follow @negus747 and @suziejet on Instagram for more information.
