iFood Will Have Motorcycle Rental Program Beginning September 1st. Partnership with Mottu Offers Up to 20% Discount on Deposit and Up to R$ 350 Monthly Bonuses for Delivery People
The iFood will have a motorcycle rental program starting September 1st, in partnership with Mottu. The initiative promises to facilitate the entry of new delivery people into the market and offer differentiated conditions for those already working on the platform. Among the benefits are discounts of up to 20% on the deposit for newcomers and monthly bonuses of up to R$ 350 on the rental price, subject to completing challenges within the app.
According to iFood, the measure is a response to the arrival of Chinese competitors, such as 99Food and Meituan, and aims to strengthen the adherence of around 450,000 registered delivery people. The enrollment process will be done online, requiring only a Category A CNH and registration on both apps.
How the Motorcycle Rental Program Will Work
The program will start in 160 Brazilian cities, where Mottu is already operating with its fleet of 130,000 rented motorcycles. The rental can be done starting at R$ 19 per day, depending on the chosen plan. For new delivery people, in addition to the discount on the deposit, there will be easier credit conditions even for those with low income or limited credit history.

For active delivery people on both platforms, the incentive will be in the form of financial return. By meeting goals set by the app, it will be possible to receive up to R$ 350 back per month on the rental price. According to iFood, the strategy aims to retain delivery people and reduce operational costs.
Impact on the Delivery Market
Experts say that the measure comes at a strategic moment. Brazil still has low motorcycle penetration compared to countries like India and China, and the high cost of credit makes it difficult for freelance workers to purchase vehicles. In this scenario, renting emerges as a viable alternative for those looking to start working without investing in a personal motorcycle.
Mottu, iFood’s partner, also emphasizes that some of its motorcycles are more economical, capable of covering up to 60 km per liter of fuel, double the average of conventional motorcycles. After three years of the contract, the vehicle becomes the delivery person’s, increasing the appeal of the program.
Strategy in the Face of Competition
The partnership also highlights the competitive landscape in the delivery market. With the arrival of foreign companies, iFood is betting on innovation and financial benefits to maintain leadership. “It’s a way to lower entry barriers and improve the profitability of those already with us,” said Thiago Viana, Senior Director of Innovation at iFood.
Rubens Zanelatto, CEO of Mottu, reinforces that the goal is to expand the fleet in Brazil and reach 1 million rented motorcycles in the coming years. “To do this, we need to offer the best cost-benefit and increasingly integrate the systems, ensuring intelligence in operations,” he said.
What to Expect From Here On Out
If successful, the partnership can transform the work model of delivery people, making motorcycle rentals a more accessible entry point for thousands of Brazilians. In addition to facilitating access, the initiative may influence how other companies in the sector structure their operations in the country.
And what do you think, can motorcycle rentals really improve the lives of delivery people or would it be more advantageous to invest in a personal purchase? Share your opinion in the comments and join the debate.
