New Electronic Tool Enhances Transactions and Strengthens Natural Gas Sector in Brazil.
The Brazilian natural gas sector has just received a significant update with the creation of the Gas Electronic Platform. This new tool, integrated with the Capacity Offering Portal (POC), provides an optimized and integrated view of offers and demands in the gas market.
The main goal of this platform is to expedite the registration process for offers by gas transporters. These companies play a crucial role in transactions, acting as mandatory counterparties. After registering their offers, they can easily reach out to trading agents to advance negotiations and establish future purchase or sale contracts.
A Continuous Evolution in the Market
Since 2021, the POC has established itself as the first marketplace in the Brazilian natural gas market. This portal has been instrumental in facilitating the acquisition of products and services from major transporters such as Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil S.A – TBG, Nova Transportadora do Sudeste – NTS, and Transportadora Associada de Gás – TAG.

Highlights of Major Transporters
NTS: Operating with a robust pipeline system, NTS connects the industrialized region of Brazil safely and reliably. With over 2,000 kilometers of network, it has a contractual transportation capacity of 158.2 million m³ of gas per day. Its pipelines connect key areas such as Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and São Paulo, regions responsible for about 50% of gas consumption in the country.
TAG: With the most extensive pipeline network in Brazil, TAG covers nearly 200 municipalities in ten states. Of its total network of 4,500 km, 3,700 km are along the coast, while 800 km extend across the Amazon. Its main shareholders are ENGIE, the national leader in renewable energy, and the global investment group CDPQ.
TBG: This company is vital for the continuous transport of natural gas along Brazil’s main economic axis. TBG supplies up to 30 million m³/day of gas to regions contributing over 50% of the national GDP, fueling refineries, thermal plants, and distributors.
The emergence of the Gas Electronic Platform marks a crucial moment for the natural gas market in Brazil, bringing more transparency and efficiency to negotiations and strengthening the sector as a whole.
