The Port of Itajaí will receive more than R$600 million in investments by 2026, with emphasis on a new tourist pier and infrastructure works that promise to boost the regional economy
The Port of Itajaí, in Santa Catarina, is preparing for a new phase. An investment package estimated at more than R$600 million will be officially presented this Wednesday (7), in a hybrid meeting at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (Fiesc).
The presentation will be made by the Port Superintendent, João Paulo Tavares Bastos, and by the President of the Port Authority of Santos, Anderson Pomini.
Tourist pier is a highlight of the package
Most of the investments will be allocated to construction of a new tourist pier, designed to receive cruise passengers.

The estimated cost of this project is around R$300 million. Last season, the current structure registered the largest number of tourists in its history, with more than 160 thousand arrivals and departures. All the works in the package are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
In addition, the plan includes improvements to allow the entry of large vessels. The Port Superintendent highlighted the importance of the meeting at Fiesc to bring security and predictability to the industrial sector in Santa Catarina, especially after the federalization process.
Porto breaks revenue record
João Paulo Tavares Bastos also celebrated the Port's recent performance. This year alone, revenue reached R$64 million, a growth of 158% compared to the same period last year.
According to him, with the support of the federal government, through the Port Authority of Santos, the Port will once again have great economic and strategic relevance.
Works go beyond the pier
During the meeting, the resources allocated to different expansion fronts will be presented. Among them are works on the access channel of the Itajaí-Açu River, in the evolution basin, densification, readjustment of the jetties, removal of the hull of the Pallas ship and containment of the right bank of the channel along the avenue.
On Thursday (8), João Paulo will be in Brasília. He will participate in meetings at the Ministry of Ports and other agencies. The main agenda item will be the final notice for the dredging concession, scheduled to be published later this year.
