Norwegian Aqua brings together luxury, technology, and adventure with 322 meters, 20 decks, and unique attractions at sea.

The Norwegian Aqua, a cruise ship from Norwegian Cruise Line, is one of the most modern vessels in the maritime industry, bringing innovation, entertainment, and high-standard facilities. Built in 2025 for $1.3 billion, the ship is 322 meters long, has a capacity for 3,571 passengers, and 1,597 crew members. The vessel debuts as the first of the Prima Plus Class and stands out for offering unique experiences, such as the Aqua Slidecoaster — a combination of a waterslide and roller coaster in the open ocean — in addition to a wide range of dining, technological, and leisure options.

Learn all about the Norwegian Aqua

Launched in 2025, the Norwegian Aqua marks a strategic advancement within the company, being the 20th ship in the fleet and the first of the new Prima Plus Class. This model was designed to be larger and more modern than its predecessors, expanding the range of options available to passengers.

Moreover, the structure was designed to function as a true floating resort, bringing together comfort, entertainment, and diverse services in a single space. There are 20 decks distributed throughout the vessel, offering areas for socializing, leisure, and relaxation with panoramic views of the sea.

Structure of the Norwegian Aqua in numbers

The grandeur of the ship can be understood through its main technical data:

Gross tonnage156,300 tons
Guest capacity3,571 people

These numbers position the ship as one of the most complete vessels today, even without being the largest in the world.

Aqua Slidecoaster: the main innovation of the Norwegian Aqua

Among the highlights, the Aqua Slidecoaster stands out for being a unique attraction at sea. It is a hybrid system that mixes elements of a roller coaster with a water slide.

The experience begins with a mechanism that propels passengers to the starting point of the descent. Then, the route winds through sinuous curves with illuminated visual effects. After about 40 seconds and 270 meters of travel, the descent ends in a pool.

Gastronomy on an industrial scale with a focus on freshness

The ship’s culinary operation is another highlight. According to Christian Pratsch, Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations of the company, who revealed to CNN, the proposal is to prioritize fresh and regional ingredients.

“About 90% of our ingredients come from local and regional suppliers located at our ship’s destination port,” he stated.

Daily, between 18,000 and 20,000 meals are produced on board. The logistics involve detailed planning to ensure quality and stock control.

The volume of food consumed during a trip also reveals the scale of the operation. Here are some weekly estimates:

  • 2.5 tons of pineapple
  • 66,240 eggs
  • 4,600 bottles of wine
  • 9,775 croissants
  • 7,475 liters of bottled water
  • 132 kg of coffee

Restaurants and diverse culinary experiences

The Norwegian Aqua features 17 restaurants, divided between options included in the package and specialty establishments, paid separately.

Among the new offerings, two spaces stand out:

  • Planterie: the company’s first restaurant with a menu entirely based on plants, with orders placed via tablet
  • Sukhothai: Thai restaurant with dishes such as ginger chicken, breaded shrimp, and various curries

Technological entertainment and leisure areas

The ship also bets on technology to attract guests. Among the main attractions are:

  • Glow Court: sports area with LED lighting and interactive games
  • “` “`html
  • Technological mini-golf
  • Virtual reality games
  • Digital darts and retro arcade games

In addition, there are areas dedicated to relaxation, such as the Vibe Beach Club, featuring infinity hot tubs and sea views.

Norwegian Aqua combines adrenaline and relaxation

The balance between extreme activities and tranquil spaces is one of the ship’s central proposals. While attractions like The Drop offer spiral descents over 10 floors, other areas are dedicated to rest and contemplation.

Also available:

  • Pubs with karaoke
  • Exclusive cigar lounges
  • Glass walkways by the sea
  • Panoramic relaxation spaces

Operational challenges and strategic planning

Managing a structure of this size requires rigorous planning. Food control, for example, involves variables such as the region visited, passenger profile, and trip duration.

According to Pratsch: “Various considerations and learnings are taken into account, from the region to demographics and the size of the ship.” This operational complexity is essential to maintain the quality standard offered.

With impressive dimensions, unprecedented attractions, and a highly organized operation, the Norwegian Aqua emerges as a landmark within the cruise industry, combining technology, entertainment, and gastronomy in a single environment over the sea.
