The City of Jaborandi, in São Paulo, Launches Jaborandi Power, First Public Solar Energy Company in Brazil, with Expected Savings of R$ 700 Thousand Per Year and Boosting Technical Training for Youths.

The municipality of Jaborandi (SP), in the Barretos region, has become a national reference by creating the first public solar energy company in Brazil, as reported this Tuesday, the 30th. Named Jaborandi Power, the initiative emerges as a milestone for the renewable energy sector and reinforces the commitment to sustainability combined with saving public funds.

The legislation that supports the project is in Article 75, Clause IX, of the Law No. 14.133/2021, allowing the company to be contracted directly by public bodies through the waiving of bidding. This legal model paves the way for more agile and efficient management.

Structure of Jaborandi Power and Its Objectives

The project, envisioned and planned by Mayor Silvio Vaz de Almeida, resulted in the creation of the Jaborandi Power Technological Center. The center’s main mission is to generate clean and sustainable energy but also carries a proposal for social transformation.

The center will have a technical training program aimed at young people in the region, offering courses in the field of photovoltaic technology. The expectation is that this training will help prepare a qualified workforce for a rapidly growing sector in Brazil.

First Installations and Economic Impact

In practice, Jaborandi Power has already begun operating. The first phase included the installation of solar panels at three strategic points in the city: the Municipal Hospital, the Events Center, and the Olinto School.

The initial investment was R$ 900 thousand, funded by the municipality’s own resources. The expected savings amount to R$ 700 thousand per year in electricity expenses. This amount could be reinvested in health, education, and new projects for the local population.

In addition to the financial benefit, the creation of Jaborandi Power places the municipality at the center of discussions about solar energy and public innovation. The project combines environmental preservation, income generation, and social inclusion, reinforcing the role of small towns in building a more sustainable energy future.
