Jetour hybrid SUV, possibly called X70L in Brazil, appears as a family plug-in option with 4.81 meters, six or seven seats, 360 hp, 54 kgfm, 19.4 kWh battery, and promised range of 800 km, targeting Haval H6 PHEV and BYD Song Plus in the R$ 250 thousand range in the country.

The Jetour hybrid SUV that may arrive in Brazil in 2026 gained momentum after a report published on April 23, from Beijing, indicated that the Chinese brand is preparing the S08 family crossover for the Brazilian market. The model was launched at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and may be sold here as Jetour X70L.

The possible arrival has not yet been officially admitted by Jetour, but the move makes sense within the brand’s recent strategy, which debuted in Brazil with plug-in hybrid models and is now preparing new options. With 4.81 meters, 6 or 7 seats, and a promised range of 800 km, the S08 directly targets families seeking space, technology, and electrification.

Jetour prepares new phase in Brazil with more plug-in models

Jetour, a brand linked to the Chery group, debuted in Brazil with three plug-in hybrid models: the S06 crossover and the T1 and T2 SUVs. Now, the expectation is that the company will expand its presence with new options still in 2026.

Among the expected novelties are the 4×4 version of the T2, the G700 SUV, and the S08 family crossover. The latter is the model that most appeals to the medium and large SUV audience, especially for combining electrification, interior space, and urban proposal.

The hybrid SUV was recently spotted in São Paulo, which increased speculation about its arrival in the country. Even so, the brand has not officially confirmed the launch, and the information should be treated as a preparation move.

The strategy indicates that Jetour does not want to compete only with niche models. The brand seems to target an already heated segment in Brazil, where Haval H6 PHEV and BYD Song Plus have become references among family plug-in hybrids.

S08 may arrive as Jetour X70L in the Brazilian market

In China, the model is sold in some countries under the Soueast brand. For Brazil, the possibility raised is that it will be marketed as Jetour X70L, reinforcing the brand’s identity in the national market.

The car is 4.81 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.82 meters, dimensions that place it above direct rivals like GWM Haval H6 PHEV and BYD Song Plus. This suggests a proposal more focused on interior space than sportiness.

The hybrid SUV can be offered in six or seven-seat configurations. The rear seats are electrically foldable, which reinforces the family proposal and the concern with practicality in daily use.

The main differentiator of the S08 is not in appearing adventurous, but in being large, comfortable, and urban. The design follows a more classic line, with a wide grille and proportions that disguise the vehicle’s size well.

Plug-in hybrid system delivers 360 hp and 54 kgfm

The version chosen for Brazil is expected to be the PHEV, an acronym for plug-in hybrid. In this setup, the S08 combines a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, mounted transversely, with an electric motor.

The system delivers 360 hp of combined power and 54 kgfm of maximum torque. Despite the high numbers, the model’s proposal is not to be an aggressively behaving SUV, but to drive with comfort, silence, and smoothness.

The traction, according to the source, will be only on the front wheels. This detail differentiates it from some SUVs with a more adventurous appeal or electrified versions with all-wheel drive.

In practice, Jetour’s hybrid SUV seems more interested in family comfort than in sporty performance. The power helps, but the focus is on traveling smoothly and offering good autonomy.

Promised autonomy reaches 800 km

The S08 has a 19.4 kWh battery and a 70-liter fuel tank. With this setup, the promised range is 800 km, with about 70 km in electric mode.

This type of configuration can attract consumers who are still hesitant to rely solely on electric cars. The plug-in use allows for urban trips in electric mode but maintains the combustion engine for longer journeys.

The hybrid SUV fits right into this intermediate range: it is not fully electric but offers an electrified experience for those seeking lower consumption on short trips and greater range on the road.

This is one of the reasons why plug-in hybrids have gained traction among Brazilian families. They reduce range anxiety while delivering more current technology than a conventional combustion SUV.

Interior bets on space, finish, and comfort items

The Jetour S08 has interior space as one of its main arguments. The flat floor helps with the sense of spaciousness, and the six or seven-seat configurations enhance family use.

Among the cited items are good finishing materials, a large panoramic roof, a massager in the driver’s seat, and even a refrigerator in the console between the front seats. These features are designed to reinforce comfort and convenience.

The rear seats with electric operation also indicate an attempt to make the use of the third row more practical. In family SUVs, this detail can weigh for those who frequently carry children, the elderly, or passengers.

The S08 seems to target a buyer who wants more than just power. It bets on space, silence, finish, and equipment to attract consumers who see the car as the main family transport.

Competition will be against Haval H6 and BYD Song Plus

If it arrives in Brazil, the hybrid SUV from Jetour will enter direct competition with already known models. The Haval H6 PHEV and the BYD Song Plus appear as natural references due to size, proposal, and plug-in hybrid technology.

The S08 surpasses these rivals in measurements, according to the comparison made in the source. This can be used as an argument for consumers who prioritize a spacious cabin, trunk, and accommodation for more passengers.

Based on its competitors, the estimate is that the model could cost around R$ 250,000, although this value has not yet been officially confirmed by Jetour. For now, price, versions, and exact launch date remain open.

The competition, however, already shows the size of the challenge. The plug-in hybrid SUV segment is growing, but it also requires a strong brand, structured after-sales service, competitive warranty, and good value perception.

Model can expand Chinese presence among family SUVs

The possible arrival of the S08 shows how Chinese brands continue to advance in Brazil with electrified models. After urban electric vehicles and medium plug-in SUVs, the competition is now starting to reach larger family vehicles more strongly.

For Jetour, the S08 can be an important piece because it expands the portfolio beyond the models already launched. A six or seven-seater SUV creates an option for families who want electrification but do not want to compromise on space.

The hybrid SUV also helps the brand position itself in a higher added value range. Instead of competing solely on price, Jetour can try to attract customers with equipment package, range, and dimensions.

In the end, the S08 shows that the competition for family plug-ins in Brazil could become even more intense in 2026. Do you think a Chinese hybrid SUV with 360 hp, 7 seats, and 800 km range can compete with Haval H6 and BYD Song Plus, or does the brand’s strength still weigh more in the decision?
