Company Stands Out in Rumo Ranking for Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

JOFEGE, a renowned construction company, was recently awarded the “Sustainable Site – Expansion Works” certificate by Rumo. This recognition celebrates the sustainability and environmental responsibility initiatives adopted by JOFEGE during the construction of the highway viaduct on Juvenal Vasconcelos Street, in Sumaré, São Paulo. The company achieved an impressive score of 82 in a ranking of 100 points, positioning itself among Rumo’s best partner contractors.

The Initiative Towards Sustainability

The “Sustainable Site” certificate is a distinction granted by Rumo since 2021, evaluating contracted companies based on sustainability and environmental responsibility criteria. The assessment considers ten criteria, including solid waste management, chemical product use, water resource and wastewater management, preservation of fauna and flora, energy efficiency, construction standards, greenhouse gas emissions control, communication, social and environmental responsibility, and site organization.

Social Commitment and Awareness

In addition to recognition for its sustainable practices, JOFEGE also stood out for its social initiative. The company mobilized its employees in a voluntary milk collection campaign, gathering 200 liters that were donated to the Solidarity Fund of Sumaré. This action reflects JOFEGE’s commitment to the local community and reinforces its image as a socially responsible company.

Fabiano Souza, Environmental Coordinator at Rumo, explains that the “Sustainable Site” certification not only acknowledges the actions of partner contractors in preserving the environment but also influences their position in Rumo’s internal supplier ranking. According to Lucas Novaes, Director of Works at JOFEGE, the award reflects the structured teamwork across all sectors of the company and serves as an incentive to continue on this sustainable path.

Trajectory and Impact of JOFEGE

Founded in 1968, JOFEGE started with a small quarry in Itatiba, São Paulo, and has since significantly expanded its operations. Today, the JOFEGE Group offers a wide range of services, including paving, concrete, real estate ventures, agriculture, mining, textile industry, and packaged mortars. With constant investments in technology, the group has established itself as a leader in the market, providing quality, speed, and sustainability in its services.

As it celebrates 55 years of establishment, the JOFEGE Group takes pride not only in its growth and innovation but also in its active role in developing infrastructure that benefits Brazilian cities. The group has been an important driver of the country’s economy, generating about 2,000 direct jobs and investing in training and development for its employees.

The achievement of the “Sustainable Site” certificate by JOFEGE is a significant milestone, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and social environmental responsibility. This recognition not only reaffirms the company’s position as a leader in its sector but also highlights its dedication to positively contributing to society and the environment.
