Chinese Brand of Stellantis Confirms Debut of SUV C10 in Country, but Cancels Compact That Would Compete with Renault Kwid E-Tech and BYD Dolphin Mini
Leapmotor, Chinese brand controlled by Stellantis, confirmed that it will not launch the electric hatch T03 in Brazil, initially scheduled for the second half of 2025. The decision came after an assessment of the Brazilian market, which indicated low profitability for the compact model, which would compete with the Renault Kwid E-Tech and the BYD Dolphin Mini. Instead, the company will focus its efforts on launching the electric SUV C10, which will be the first model of the brand to arrive in the country, according to the website Quatro Rodas.
Reasons for the Cancellation of the Leapmotor T03 in Brazil
The Leapmotor T03, although tested in Brazil, will not be part of the brand’s commercial plans in the country and Chile at this initial stage of operations in South America. The main reason is economic: to be competitive against entry-level electric vehicles, the hatch would need to be sold for around R$ 100 thousand, an amount that would compromise the profit margin of the automaker given the involved costs.
Furthermore, the model faced challenges in Europe, where its production was recently suspended in Poland. There, the T03 is sold for around 25 thousand euros and competes with vehicles like the Dacia Spring and the Citroën e-C3 electric. This situation contributed to the decision not to bring the compact hatch to Brazil and Chile at this time.

Without relying on an outlet, without a cable, and without the gasoline engine driving the wheels: Nissan created the Note e-POWER, a hatchback that always runs on an electric motor while a combustion engine works only as a generator, delivering to Japan a type of “electric without recharging” that Brazil is almost unfamiliar with.
Technical Characteristics of the Leapmotor T03 and Its Differentials
The Leapmotor T03 is a subcompact electric urban vehicle, measuring 3.62 meters in length and 2.40 meters in wheelbase, dimensions slightly larger than the Fiat Mobi. Its front motor delivers 109 hp and 16 kgfm of torque, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 12 seconds and a top speed of 120 km/h. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 41.3 kWh, an estimated range of 280 km in the European WLTP cycle, and supports fast charging of up to 45 kW.
The model includes advanced features for its category, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, fatigue monitor and sign reading – equipment still uncommon among Brazilian competitors. The 10.1-inch multimedia center integrates controls for air conditioning and windshield wipers, adding technology and comfort.
In comparison, the BYD Dolphin Mini, its main rival, has larger dimensions and a similar price. The Renault Kwid E-Tech is known for its cost-effectiveness and established presence in the national market.
