The Oil And Gas Auction In Roraima Will Take Place In November, According To Minister Alexandre Silveira. Expectations Are High For Attracting Investments In The State.
The auction of two blocks of oil and gas in the Tacutu basin, in Roraima, has been confirmed for November 13 or 14, according to Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira. The announcement was made on Wednesday (9), during a meeting of the Mines and Energy Commission in Brasília.
The proposal meets an initiative by Federal Deputy Gabriel Mota (Republicanos-RR), vice-president of the committee.
The government’s expectation is for strong participation from investors, as the last auctions exceeded revenue forecasts. According to Silveira, “the world is investing in Brazil,” and this reinforces confidence that the Roraima blocks will also attract market interest.

Blocks In Roraima Gain Highlight In The Energy Scenario
The Tacutu sedimentary basin, located in Roraima, is considered a new frontier for the national production of oil and gas.
The auction announcement represents an important step in diversifying the Brazilian energy matrix, also focusing on less explored regions.
Gabriel Mota celebrated the news, highlighting the importance of the auction for local development. For him, the initiative could represent an economic turnaround for the state, which still faces structural challenges, especially in the energy sector.
Alexandre Silveira emphasized that the government has been successful with recent auctions.
“We had a forecast of raising R$ 13 billion last year to help with the budget. We raised R$ 18 billion. This year, the forecast was R$ 21 billion, and we raised R$ 25 billion,” said the minister.
With this positive trend, the exploration of oil and gas in Roraima emerges as a promising opportunity for generating revenues, jobs, and infrastructure.
The holding of the auction also marks Brazil’s strategic presence in regions that are still underexplored, strengthening energy sovereignty.
Environmentalists Question The Advance Of Exploration In The Equatorial Margin
During the same meeting, the minister reiterated support for oil exploration in the Equatorial Margin, a stretch of the northern coast between Rio Grande do Norte and Amapá. The proposal faces resistance from environmentalist sectors, which argue risks to the local ecosystem.
Despite this, Silveira stated that the government is committed to a fair energy transition, combining economic growth and environmental responsibility.
The Tucuruí Transmission Line Should End The Electrical Isolation Of Roraima
Another highlight of the meeting was the confirmation of the inauguration of the Tucuruí Transmission Line by the end of the year, a project worth R$ 2.6 billion that promises to interconnect Roraima to the rest of the national electricity system. Today, the state still partially depends on energy from Venezuela.
According to the minister, “not only will we be able to decarbonize and shut down the thermal plants in Roraima, but we will also bring energy security to the rest of Brazil.” The transmission line will have a capacity of 1 gigawatt, allowing energy from the region to be shared with the entire country.
Gabriel Mota reinforced the urgency of the project, recalling the recent blackouts in the state. The expectation is that the transmission line will be fully operational by 2026, ending decades of isolation and electrical instability in Roraima.
With the confirmed oil and gas auction and the arrival of the Tucuruí Transmission Line, Roraima is moving towards a new phase of energy development. The union between private investments and structural actions from the federal government can transform the state into a new hub for Brazilian energy production.
