Magalu, the largest ecosystem for buying and selling in Brazil, announces its new technology training program, Desenvolve 40+. The project, in partnership with the programming school Let’s Code, will offer 100 scholarships for a free online (EAD) technology training course (Python) for people aged 40 or older, with 50% of the scholarships dedicated to self-declared black or brown people, in addition to being open to the internal public of the company.

According to information from the Brazilian Association of Information Technology and Communication Companies (Brasscom), between 2019 and 2024 it would be necessary to hire, on average, 70,000 people per year to meet the needs of this market, with 40,000 professionals being trained each year.
The initiative’s proposal is to generate generational inclusion at Luizalabs, training programmers for an area that suffers from labor shortages, and also to include professionals aged 40 or older, who are also affected by the difficulties of the job market. At Luizalabs, Magalu’s technology department, only 14.2% of professionals are 40 years old or older. With the course, the company takes another step towards a more diverse and inclusive work environment.

The course will have 200 hours and a duration of three months. There will be 108 hours of live remote sessions, three times a week, and 92 hours of asynchronous online content, which students can watch whenever they want. The training covers everything from the first programming concepts to the complex levels of Python language.
Requirements: To enroll, you must be 40 years or older, have a complete high school education, be available to attend online classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7 PM to 10 PM, reside in Brazil, and have a desire to learn. No prior knowledge of technology is required.
At the end of the process, those who complete the course will have the chance to participate in the selection process at Luizalabs, Magalu’s technology area, and compete for a job at the company.
