About Cabo Frio International Airport
Inaugurated in 1998, Cabo Frio Airport is Brazil’s first public airport under private management. In 2007, its runway was expanded to 2,550 meters, making it the second largest runway in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
Today, it receives commercial passenger flights from Azul and Gol, cargo commercial flights from Latam, chartered international passenger and cargo flights, as well as general aviation (private flights) and offshore (helicopter flights to oil platforms).
Cabo Frio Airport is equipped to operate large cargo and passenger aircraft, with a capacity to handle 570,000 passengers per year.
The airport has a strategic location not only for tourism activities on the Costa do Sol (the facility is surrounded by the beautiful beaches of the region), but also for unloading supplies and equipment for the oil and gas industry, which is very strong in the region.
