Free Tourism Course Offered by MEC Provides Online Training in Hotel Management, Events, and Agencies with Certificate and Deadline for Completion Until July 31, 2026

Those seeking quick qualification to enter or advance in the tourism sector can now enroll in the free tourism course offered by MEC with a certificate issued by IFRS. The courses are online, have a short duration, and can be completed in a few days after enrollment.

Classes will remain open until July 31, 2026. In addition, the workload varies between 20 and 30 hours, which facilitates studying while working.

Who Can Secure a Spot in These Open Classes Now?

The courses are aimed at both individuals already working in the field and those wishing to start in tourism, hospitality, or events.

You can enroll if you are:

  • Students in tourism, hospitality, and leisure fields
  • Professionals working with events
  • Food and beverage workers
  • Interested in hospitality
  • People from any area, in specific courses like travel agencies

The requirements include:

  • Reading comprehension in Portuguese
  • In some cases, completion of elementary school
  • Equipment with audio and video capabilities to follow the classes

Since the classes are online and without tutoring, students organize their own study pace.

What Is Really Learned in a Free Tourism Course Offered by MEC?

The content varies according to the chosen training. Nevertheless, all courses have a practical focus aimed at the market.

The topics covered include:

  • Event organization and management
  • Hotel administration
  • Menu planning and restaurant services
  • Housekeeping and laundry in hospitality
  • Marketing and finance applied to events
  • Brazilian tourism legislation
  • Operations and future of travel agencies

In courses such as Financial Management for Events and Marketing in Events, for example, students learn about budgeting, cash flow, brand positioning, and promotional strategies.

In areas like Hotel Management and Leisure in Hospitality, the focus is consequently on the operation and quality of services offered to the public.

What Trainings Are Available in This New Phase of 2026?

Currently, the free tourism course is divided into various options within the Tourism, Hospitality, and Leisure axis.

Among them:

  • Tourism Agency and Hospitality
  • Food and Beverages in Hospitality
  • Event Planning
  • Professional Etiquette
  • Events: Concepts
  • Events: Layout and Decoration
  • Events: Types
  • Business Management for Events
  • Financial Management for Events
  • Hotel Management
  • Housekeeping in Hospitality
  • History and Market of Travel Agencies and Tourism
  • Laundry in Hospitality
  • Leisure in Hospitality
  • Tourism Legislation
  • Marketing in Events

Most have a workload of 20 hours. However, some reach 25 or 30 hours, especially in management and marketing areas.

Is the IFRS Certificate Valid and Can It Be Issued Quickly?

Yes. All courses provide a certificate at the end, as long as the student meets the completion criteria.

The minimum issuance period varies:

  • 4 days after enrollment in the 20-hour courses
  • 5 days for courses with a greater workload

This means that, depending on dedication, it is possible to obtain certification in less than a week.

As the level is basic, the trainings serve both as an entry point and as professional updating.

How Does Enrollment Work and Until When Can You Participate?

Enrollment is made directly on the official MEC platform, within the Tourism, Hospitality, and Leisure category. Access is online, with no fee charged.

Once enrolled, students can start the content immediately. The final deadline for completion is July 31, 2026.

Therefore, the sooner you start, the more time you will have to organize your studies.
