Company Has Been Stopped Since 2015 and Is 61% Prepared for the Resumption of Operations

The company reported, through its General Operations Manager, Sérgio Mileipe, that the expectation is for the Ubu Plant, located in Anchieta, to be reconnected in December of this year.

“We faced problems with the pandemic, but we were able to establish strict controls and we are managing to keep the December date. Here in Ubu, we have 61% of the preparation completed,” the manager informed in a live session held last Thursday (09).

The company has had its activities halted since November 2015, when the Mariana dam broke in Minas Gerais.

To date, 1,300 people have already been hired to work at the first Plant to be reconnected. The company expects that by the end of this year, the number will reach 2,000 people. Sérgio Mileipe stated that the company is committed to hiring local labor and suppliers.

“We have seen that the utilization of local companies has been very good. We have many companies from the State, including from Anchieta, Guarapari, and Cachoeiro. As for our hires, so far we are maintaining a utilization rate of 80% of residents from the areas directly influenced by the company,” the manager reported.

R$ 80 million will be injected into the capixaba market, and operations are expected to reach only 26% of the company’s capacity, which represents only four plants in operation. Mileipe reported that another plant is expected to be reconnected in 2026 and that the company’s full return will only occur in 2030.
