The Chinese Manufacturer Great Wall Motors (GWM) Announced the Arrival of Its New Pickup Shanhai Poer, Which May Soon Be Manufactured in Brazil.
A new Chinese pickup has emerged, and its destination might be Brazil. The GWM manufacturer introduced, at the Chengdu Motor Show, the Shanhai Poer pickup, which has the promised technology for production at the Iracemápolis (SP) factory, as it is hybrid. The new vehicle from Great Wall Motors is derived from the Tank 500 SUV and uses the same 3.0 V6 mild hybrid 48V engine, with 354 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The transmission is a 9-speed automatic.

The power of the new GWM vehicle is sufficient to compete with medium pickups in Brazil. There are also versions with a 2.4 turbodiesel hybrid engine and a 2.0 gasoline turbo engine, with power numbers not revealed.
The model’s suspension is independent in the front and has a solid axle in the rear. The development is of the body-on-frame type, similar to vehicles like the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet S10, and Ram Classic. The Chinese pickup has a beautiful design and a powerful grille, which creates a strong visual impact. The model is more luxurious compared to other Great Wall Motors models.

Inside its cabin, the Shanhai Poer features genuine leather seats that are heated and ventilated, a 12.3-inch (31.24 cm) instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch (37.08 cm) multimedia display. There is also a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and parking assist. The GWM Chinese pickup also features piano key-style controls and wood-like trim.
One of the innovations of the new vehicle is its 4×4 traction, which has an electromagnetic clutch coupling system on the front axle. There is also 4×4 Low and locking of both the rear and front differentials. The price of the new Chinese pickup has not yet been disclosed.
Great Wall Motors Plans to Install Manufacturing of a New Category of SUVs in the Country
Great Wall Motors is currently one of the largest light vehicle manufacturers in China and announced this year that soon new hybrid SUVs, capable of achieving 208 km/l, will arrive in the country. GWM will invest around R$ 10 billion in Brazil for the production of electric and hybrid SUVs and pickups, directly at its Iracemápolis plant in São Paulo.
The production of the new vehicles is expected to begin as early as next year, and the company stated that the investment will be divided into two cycles of investments in the local operation, with R$ 4 billion from 2022 to 2025 and, from 2026 onwards, more than R$ 6 billion. GWM anticipates that the initiative will generate around 2,000 direct jobs by 2025.
The Company from China Plans to Install 100 Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles
Great Wall Motors plans to install 100 charging stations for electric vehicles of any model in municipalities in the state of São Paulo.
The announcement was made this year by João Dória, and the initiative is part of the R$ 10 billion investment that Great Wall Motors is making in the manufacturing of electric vehicles at its plant in the interior of SP.
The company’s charging network will be powered by solar panels installed in the state, while a second phase will include charging points in cities in other states, according to the governor. According to the announcement, the initiative also plans to create a network of partners, suppliers, and startups.
