The Manufacturer Moves Forward With Plans to Have Its Own Factory in Brazil, in Manaus. This Will Be Its First Unit Outside of India
Bajaj, the Indian motorcycle manufacturer, is consolidating its plans to establish its own factory in Brazil, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Brazilian market. According to Bajaj Auto’s CEO, Rakesh Sharma, the new plant will be located in Manaus and is expected to start operating within 12 months, with a production capacity of up to 20,000 bikes per month.
Strategic Investment to Strengthen the Manufacturer’s Presence in Brazil and Latin America
According to Sharma, the decision to build an own factory in Brazil is driven by the size and complexity of the Brazilian market, which requires a long-term presence. The manufacturer seeks to gain insights into product development and customer behavior by being locally present, which will strengthen its operations in the region and Latin America.
The future Bajaj factory in Brazil will mark an important milestone, as it will be the first unit of the manufacturer outside of India. In addition to producing its own motorcycles, the factory will also assemble low-displacement models from the KTM brand, following the example of Bajaj’s units in India, where they produce 125 to 390 cc motorcycles from the Austrian brand.
