Although many Brazilian cities are providing more job opportunities for women, the municipality of Cuiabá deserves special mention. After all, having a significant number of women working in the photovoltaic solar energy sector is seen as a reason to celebrate.
Amid the week of International Women’s Day, the Cuiabá region gained significant attention regarding the presence of women in the renewable energy sector, especially solar energy. Oeste Solar, a company focused on photovoltaic energy production, commented this Tuesday, (03/08), on the female presence within the company and the significant jobs held by these women.

The renewable energy market has changed significantly over the past few years, especially concerning gender disparity, as this was a segment heavily marked by male presence and is now opening doors for women in these jobs. Therefore, a significant spotlight in the Brazilian market today is the state of Mato Grosso, particularly Cuiabá, which is increasingly employing women in photovoltaics.
The expressiveness of solar energy in the global market is growing and, according to studies by the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), in 2019 alone, the renewable energy sector generated 11.5 million jobs worldwide, with the photovoltaic solar energy industry accounting for one-third of the total. Moreover, 32% were filled by jobs held by women, and these numbers have been steadily increasing over the years, confirming progress regarding gender differences within the photovoltaic energy segment.

The state of Mato Grosso has been establishing itself as one of the top states regarding female employability within renewable energies, largely due to the ongoing pursuit of professional training that these women seek, aiming for better opportunities in the job market and professional growth.

Oeste Solar Group Marks Its Presence in Women’s Employability Within the Solar Energy Sector in the Cuiabá Region, Mato Grosso
The prominence of Cuiabá and the state of Mato Grosso in terms of women in the photovoltaic energy sector is a consequence of large companies that are part of this fight, mainly Oeste Solar. The company is a leader in installed capacity of photovoltaic generation, in distributed generation, responsible for approximately 30% of the 86 MW in the capital of Mato Grosso, and is increasingly seeking to integrate women into the solar energy market, as a way to contribute to this advancement in the field.
As a result, the director of Oeste Solar, Tiago Vianna, commented on this presence in the company and emphasized that “At Oeste Solar, we have a policy of valuing and recognizing these professionals in the pursuit of gender equity. The market trend in which we operate is one of growth in the coming years, and consequently, we will have more job positions occupied by competent women in everything they do. So, we want to congratulate you, women, on your day and express our gratitude for your work.”
Additionally, employees such as Neuza de Almeida Oliveira and Ariete de Espírito Santos highlight that the job opportunities offered by the company were essential for them to enter this segment and that today, thanks to this work, they feel more fulfilled in their professional field and more empowered within their area.
