This Is The Largest EPCI / SURF3 Contract With Petrobras. The Winner Will Now Be Responsible For The Submarine Collection System Of A Project In The Pre-Salt
The Norwegian multinational Subsea 7, a global leader in delivering offshore projects and services for the energy market, headquartered in the United Kingdom, announced that it has secured the EPCI / SURF3 contract with Petrobras, valued at approximately US$ 750 million. The company will now develop the 8th module of the Búzios field, located more than 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, and at a depth of 2,000 meters in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin.
According to Subsea 7, project management and engineering are expected to begin immediately at the company’s offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris, France.
The company will be responsible for the submarine collection system of the project. In Ubu, in the Espírito Santo, the manufacturing of the pipes will take place. Offshore operations are expected to begin in 2024 and 2025, using one of the vessels from Subsea 7’s fleet in Brazil.

It is agreed in the contract between the Norwegian company and Petrobras: engineering design, supply of goods, manufacturing, installation, and pre-commissioning of approximately 126 kilometers of rigid submarine pipeline. The agreement also includes 98 kilometers of flexible lines and 88 kilometers of umbilicals and associated infrastructure, as well as anchoring lines to the FPSO.
Subsea 7 Celebrates Another Partnership With Petrobras
For the Vice President of Subsea 7 Brazil Region, Daniel Hiller, this new contract with Petrobras, this time for the Búzios Field, is a recognition of the work of every employee of the company involved.
“It materializes our strategy of serving clients in Brazil. We are proud to develop this project in partnership with Petrobras”, says Hiller.
In October 2021, Subsea 7 signed three other large contracts with the Brazilian oil company, with values ranging from US$ 500 to US$ 750 million. The agreements are long-term day-rate contracts for Pipelay Support Vessels (PLSVs): Seven Waves, Seven Rio and Seven Sun.
