The Novo Brasil Group (NBR) announced the groundbreaking ceremony for its new automobile factory on Thursday (24). According to the company, the new production line will be built in the city of Araripina, in the Sertão of Pernambuco, over an area of approximately 29 hectares. The estimate is that construction will start in the first half of this year. According to NBR, the initial phase of the project will involve an investment of around R$ 260 million.

According to NBR, the aim is to use modular platforms for the creation of its new line of cars. NBR plans to have a compact car as the first model of the factory, with space for up to five people, which can also be transformed into a completely open buggy. With the modular structure, the chassis will be made of carbon fiber or fiberglass, according to NBR.
The director and president of NBR, Evandro Lira, reported that the vehicle factory is occupying a niche where there are no competing countries worldwide. Lira also mentioned that other major brands presented some buggy prototypes that have not yet reached the automotive market.

Job and Income Generation in Pernambuco’s Sertão
According to information provided by NBR, the new vehicle factory, located in Araripina, in the Sertão of Pernambuco, expects to begin vehicle production in the second half of 2023. The total installed capacity will be 1,600 cars produced per month, but initially, it will only reach a monthly margin of 1,200 vehicles.
With the company’s pace, new jobs and income will be generated throughout the Araripina region, extending to the entire state of Pernambuco, boosting the regional economy. Once the factory is operational, about 450 people will initially be divided into two shifts, but the total estimate is that more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created.
Regarding the sale of cars assembled at NBR’s vehicle factory, the company stated that all manufactured cars will be sold in the brand’s own stores, as well as certified dealers, in the capitals Recife, Natal, Fortaleza, Florianópolis, and São Paulo. However, NBR did not provide further details about the sale of its cars.
NBR Vehicle Factory Will Invest in Flex Models
NBR assured that its vehicle factory will feature a wide and excellent range of engines, but it has not yet specified their origins. The available options will be: 1.0, 1.0 turbo, 1.3, and 1.5, all flex.
The vehicles may have 4×2 or 4×4 traction, and the suspension will be independent on all wheels. Among the various equipment, power steering and LED lighting systems are included on the list. Initially, the company promised that the cars will have a price of around R$ 66,000, a value very close to that of the cars considered the cheapest in Brazil today, which are the Fiat Mobi and the Renault Kwid.
