Projects Acquired In The Aneel Auction
The tests of the wind turbines in Paraíba began after the energization of a new substation and a transmission line acquired by Neoenergia in a transmission auction held by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) at the end of 2017, delivered 21 months ahead of the regulatory agency’s contractual deadline.
The new substation, Santa Luzia II, will be the connection point to the National Interconnected System (SIN) for the wind farm in Paraíba. The project will be linked to another strategic enterprise for Neoenergia, the Luzia solar power park, which had construction started in May and will be the company’s first project for centralized solar energy.

Wind Farm With A Capacity Of Nearly 500 MW
In total, the Chafariz Wind Complex in Paraíba will have 15 wind farms, being one of the largest wind energy generation projects by Neoenergia in Brazil and by Iberdrola in Latin America.
The plant will have an installed capacity of 471.2 MW and a large part of its energy will be directed to the National Interconnected System and another to the Free Contracting Environment (ACL). A total of 136 turbines with a unit capacity of 3.465 MW will be installed, some of the most modern on the market, which are currently in the commissioning and assembly phase.
Over 1,400 Job Openings Created In Paraíba
The construction of the wind farm in Paraíba began in the second half of 2019, ahead of the company’s business plan. Over 1,400 job openings have been generated during the construction work so far, with 40% of them being local labor.
In addition to contributing to the economy through job and income generation, Neoenergia has undertaken various initiatives to benefit the municipalities around Santa Luzia, such as installing solar panels in health units, conducting training courses, renovating schools, and supporting artisans from the quilombo community of Serra do Talhado.
