Nordex Achieves New Record and Strengthens the Wind Energy Industry in Brazil
The Nordex Group, which recently received a large order for 16 wind turbines and is also a global leader in wind turbine manufacturing, has just surpassed the impressive mark of 1,000 concrete towers produced in Brazil. With the mass production of these wind turbines, the company has been significantly contributing to some of the largest wind farms currently under construction in the country. The installation of these thousand towers equates to 3.3 GW of installed capacity and corresponds to 13% of the total wind generation capacity in Brazil.
Growth in Job Creation and Factory Expansion
Nordex Brazil, now with over 1,300 direct employees, has a significant presence in three factories located in Rio Grande do Norte, Piauí, and Bahia. “We have never produced and installed so many turbines simultaneously,” celebrates Felipe Ramalho, CEO of Nordex Brazil. The company is committed to providing wind turbines for new wind farms, which together will generate 2 GW of energy.
The wind farms are strategically located in regions such as Uibaí and Brotas de Macaúbas in Bahia, Lagoa do Barro and Simões in Piauí, and Lajes and Pedro Avelino in Rio Grande do Norte. All of these projects, acquired over the past few years from renowned clients, will be implemented between 2023 and 2024. Upon completion, the total capacity installed by Nordex in Brazil will reach approximately 5 GW.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.

Africa has about 500,000 cell towers and most still burn diesel to operate, while companies rush to cover antennas with solar energy and avoid signal blackouts.

Farmers swapped diesel for solar panels in Pakistan, powered irrigation pumps almost cost-free, expanded rice fields, and now groundwater has become a red alert in the countryside.

Migrant workers left the world’s largest renewable energy park in India after extreme heat, 12-hour shifts, delayed wages, and poor accommodations at a site that still promises to supply 18 million homes.
One of the secrets to Nordex’s success is the production of concrete towers, whose advantages include reduced logistical risks and costs, lower foundation costs, and lower exposure to steel price volatility. “The mark of a thousand towers manufactured demonstrates our relevance and competitiveness in the country, and our factories boost the economy of the municipalities where we operate,” states Luis Savio Siqueira, Operations Director of Nordex Brazil.
Investments and Confidence in the Future of Wind Energy in Brazil
Despite a scenario of high-interest rates and rising costs, the Nordex Group remains confident in Brazil and seeks to optimize the efficiency of its wind turbines. In the last three years, the company has invested 20 million euros in expanding its operations and plans to implement a new factory in southern Brazil, considering the prospect of new wind projects in the region.
Nordex Group: A Force in Global Wind Energy
With an increase in installed wind energy capacity in Brazil from 1 GW in 2011 to 21.5 GW in 2022, the Nordex Group plays a crucial role in this growth. The company has already installed over 44 GW of wind energy capacity in more than 40 countries, and in 2022 generated revenues of 5.7 billion euros. With a global workforce of approximately 9,000 people, Nordex’s total manufacturing capacity includes factories in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the United States, India, and Mexico. Its portfolio of wind turbines focuses on onshore turbines with a nominal power of 4 to 6 MW.
