The Fleet Of Ships Of The Company Subsea 7 Will Become Even More Modernized And Efficient With The New Technology Contracted From The Group Miros, The WaveSystem, Used For Monitoring Waves And Currents In Navigation.
The marine transportation and logistics company Subsea 7 is incorporating a new technology into its fleet of ships to ensure more efficiency, quality, and safety in operations. This is the WaveSystem, a system from the Group Miros that monitors waves and currents at depths of up to 10 meters, thus ensuring greater control over navigation conditions during the activities of the logistics and transportation company’s ships.
WaveSystem Technology From The Group Miros Is Acquired By Subsea 7 For More Efficiency In Monitoring Waves And Currents In The Navigation Of Its Ships
Aiming to make its activities in the maritime sector even more efficient and modern, the company Subsea 7 has signed a three-year agreement to utilize the WaveSystem technology from the Group Miros on some of its ships.
This system ensures complete monitoring of waves and currents at a depth of up to 10 meters and provides vessels with more safety in operations, as there is greater control over environmental conditions.

The Group Miros is currently focused on ocean surface measurement operations and providing sensors and dry-installed Internet of Things (IoT) systems for environmental monitoring for the global offshore and maritime industry.
Thus, the company’s sensors and monitoring technologies, such as the WaveSystem, ensure real-time control of environmental conditions during maritime movement operations, enabling not only more efficient navigation but also greater safety for all crew members.
With the contract with the group, the company Subsea 7 will begin to use the WaveSystem on three of its ships, the Seven Waves, Seven Rio, and Seven Sun, alongside access to services from Miros Cloud, which provides real-time maritime state data.
The Group Miros currently has a contract with the company Petrobras in the national territory, and each contract comprises a period of three years plus a one-year option. Thus, the agreement with the company Subsea 7 is set to commence in the second half of 2022.
WaveSystem Will Ensure More Operational Quality For Ships And The Norwegian Company Envisions Even Greater Efficiency With The Monitoring Technology
Executive Andrew Wallace, vice president of offshore solutions at Miros, commented that the company is excited about the agreement: “This is proof of Miros’ expertise and reliability in delivering accurate wave measurements through our Miros.app cloud-based graphical user interface. Providing Subsea 7 with access to real-time wave and current data that can be shared among departments is an important function for both onshore and vessel-based personnel and is key to ensuring safe and efficient operations at all times.”
Filipe Salvio, operations manager of Subsea 7, confirmed that the monitoring contract with the Group Miros will ensure higher quality service regardless of environment conditions, as the WaveSystem provides precise waves, current, and speed through water data, thus enabling safer navigation in the company’s activities.
The WaveSystem is composed of two major components essential for monitoring: the Miros Wavex, a virtual sensor designed for wave and current measurements using standard X-band radar data, and the Miros RangeFinder, a high-frequency vertical microwave radar that ensures greater control over water conditions during navigation.
