Building a 95-square-meter house in 2026 can start at around R$ 185,000 at the reference base and exceed R$ 330,000 in high standard, but the final cost depends on the land, finishing, fees, and the region, with the South of the country being among the most expensive in Brazil.
Initially, the suspension will last for 15 days, starting from the date of the agreement, with employee demobilization for 30 days. All those who tested negative for the disease will be accompanied by the consortium to their cities of origin and are being advised to maintain isolation at their homes, as a preventive measure.
Employees who tested positive for Covid-19 will continue their quarantine with medical attention in the consortium’s accommodations. The construction company and the consortium emphasize that isolation does not pose a risk to the local population, as the facilities have ample space and all precautions are being taken.
It is worth noting that the municipalities have shown openness to dialogue on the issue and explained their concerns to the construction company and the consortium. Moreover, the suspension measure was also taken with the aim of ensuring the safety of the workers, as the public has resorted to violence in recent protests, including the use of weapons.
Andrade Gutierrez and the consortium regret the violent stance of members of the public that does not contribute to resolving a public health issue and remind that their employees are a cross-section of society, are exercising their professions, and working for the country, therefore deserving respect and support from everyone. Finally, the company and the consortium reinforce that their works adhere to all hygiene and safety standards, implementing daily health screenings for teams, adapting work environments, and maintaining extensive preventive communication.
