Project will transform the old CPTM station into one of the largest mobility centers in Latin America
With works planned in three phases, the Água Branca station, in São Paulo, will integrate six railway lines and two regional trains, expanding urban and intercity mobility with a focus on intermodality and urban development.
Construction of the Água Branca station aims to integrate with the subway, trains and the interior
The city of São Paulo is preparing for one of the largest investments in urban mobility in recent years. The station White water, located in the west of the capital, will be completely revitalized and transformed into a railway hub with connections between the subway, urban trains and regional lines. With an investment of R $ 1,3 billion, the intervention foresees the integration of six lines e two intercity trains, making the station a new hub Sourcing public transport in the city.
According to the portal Construction Time, the work will be divided into three stages. The first is due to be completed in 2026 and will connect the subway's Line 6-Laranja to the current CPTM Line 7-Rubi. This connection will create a new route between the north zone and the city center, reducing the journey from around 1h30 to just 23 minutes. The second phase will include the arrival of the Intercity Train (TIC) North Axis, which will connect São Paulo to Campinas, in addition to integration with CPTM lines 8-Diamante and 9-Esmeralda. The third phase foresees the connection with Metro Line 3-Red and ICT West Axis, which will serve the city of Sorocaba.

Água Branca as a new axis of urban and regional mobility
The station White water, currently limited to Line 7-Rubi, occupies a strategic area of the city — close to major avenues such as Francisco Matarazzo and Marquês de São Vicente. However, its structure is considered undersized for the current and future flow of passengers. The station, opened in 1867, has never undergone a major renovation and will now be elevated to a new level of connectivity and infrastructure, according to the CPTM.
With the expansion, the station will gain modern platforms, advanced signaling and will be prepared to receive both urban and regional trains. The change of the TIC terminal, which previously would arrive at the Palmeiras-Barra Funda station and will now be redirected to Água Branca, was strategic: the location offers greater expansion space, better integration potential and proximity to urban and real estate growth regions.
Água Branca Station will connect the capital, the interior and new opportunities
With future integration, the new station White water will connect directly:
- Metro Line 6-Orange
- CPTM Line 7-Ruby
- CPTM Line 8-Diamante
- CPTM Line 9-Emerald
- Metro Line 3-Red
- Intercity Train North Axis (São Paulo–Campinas)
- Intercity Train Western Axis (São Paulo–Sorocaba)
This multi-modal connection puts the station on a new level, in the style of large urban centers such as London, Paris and Tokyo. According to Examination, this type of structure allows for the redistribution of the capital's passenger flow and the creation of connection hubs outside the expanded center, such as Luz and Sé — which currently operate at high demand. The project also includes the relocation of Line 8 between Lapa and Barra Funda to avoid overloading the system.
Urban valorization and new centrality in São Paulo
The expansion of the station White water goes beyond mobility: it will boost urban development in the west zone. Neighborhoods like Partridges, Barra Funda and Lapa are already attracting the interest of investors, and the arrival of intercity trains should further accelerate the region's appreciation. With the new terminal, the government of the State of São Paulo hopes to create an axis of economic growth, generating direct and indirect jobs in the areas of construction, services and commerce.
The expectation is that, with the infrastructure ready, the new railway hub make life easier of thousands of people from São Paulo and the interior, promoting faster, safer and more sustainable travel. By decentralizing connection points, the city moves towards smarter mobility, integrating people, opportunities and regions.
