Fiat Toro and Chevrolet Montana Competitor: Toyota Revolutionizes the Automotive Industry with the Launch of New Pickup Known as the Affordable Sister of the Hilux
The current automotive craze is SUV-based pickups, which have a more urban and less rugged style. And it’s Toyota that is leading this segment, developing this new category of vehicles for 3 years. The result of this research is the concept known as “EPU”, which will serve as the basis for the brand’s new pickup, named Stout or “mini Hilux”.
Toyota is preparing to introduce the first flex hybrid pickup on the market. Planned to take place at the Sorocaba factory in São Paulo, Toyota’s production was strategically decided for the location, capable of accommodating the manufacturing of all the company’s models in Brazil. First reported by Autos Segredos, this news marks the beginning of a period of anticipation for fans of the brand.

The “unbreakable” from Toyota: why the 2015 Etios is still an excellent deal as a used car?
Although Toyota has not officially confirmed the model name, it is speculated that it could be called Stout, a name that the brand previously used for a compact pickup. The future model may be based on the so-called TNGA platform, which will also be used in the Yaris Cross, another vehicle from the brand.
The Yaris Cross will be assembled and sold in Brazil starting in 2024, which may indicate the possibility of manufacturing the new pickup here, while the beloved Corolla Cross arrived in Brazilian territory in April!
Mini Hilux Comes to End the Reign of the Fiat Strada, the Best-Selling Car in Brazil for the Last Two Years
The success of compact pickups in the Brazilian market is evident. The Fiat Strada, for example, was the best-selling car in the market for the past two consecutive years.
Brazilian consumers have a special preference for these small and sturdy utility vehicles.
New Toyota Pickup Features Softer Lines Compared to Its Larger Sisters Hilux and Tacoma
The design of the mini Hilux is based on the “EPU” concept, which features less aggressive and smoother lines compared to its larger sisters, such as the Hilux and Tacoma. The profile of the pickup is quite square, with creases and angular cuts.
The roof is painted black, and the wheel arches are rectangular, with unpainted trim, as well as the door sills. The rear of the pickup reminds us of the Montana. It is possible to observe a certain similarity between these two vehicles.
A Futuristic Interior
The interior of the mini Hilux is very futuristic, with clean lines and a digital dashboard. The instruments use a 100% digital display, which pairs with another larger screen for multimedia. The features should include items like airbags, rearview camera, keyless entry, rain sensor, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot alert, automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors, among other comfort and safety features.
New Toyota Pickup Comes with 1.5 Flex Naturally Aspirated Engine and a Combined Power of Up to 110 Horsepower
The affordable sister of the Hilux pickup is Inspired by the Corolla Cross SUV; the presented concept is equipped with a 100% electric powertrain, but details about this engine have yet to be disclosed. It is possible that the production version will use a 1.5 Flex naturally aspirated engine alongside electric motors, resulting in a combined power of up to 110 horsepower. This is the same setup that will likely be used in the Brazilian Yaris Cross.
How Much Will It Cost? Stout Promises to Come with a More Competitive Price to Attract Brazilians and Undercut Rivals Fiat Strada, Toro and Chevrolet Montana
The expectation is that Toyota’s new pickup will be launched in Brazil between 2024 and 2025. If manufactured, the mini Hilux should target the price tags of the Fiat Touro, which starts at around R$ 150,000. However, although Japanese cars tend to be a bit more expensive, Toyota’s new pickup promises to come with a more competitive price to attract Brazilians and shake up sales of rivals Fiat Strada, Toro and Chevrolet Montana.
Inspired by SUV models, the affordable sister of the Hilux is Toyota’s new bet in the urban pickup segment. With a striking design, futuristic interior, and options for modern engines and features, this pickup promises to win over Brazilian consumers. Its launch will certainly be another success for the Japanese automaker.

Seja bem vinda!
No mínimo 170CV motor 2.0 ! Pode vir que o mercado agradece.
