Recognizing The Potential In Solar Energy In Pernambuco, Enel Green Power Plans To Inaugurate A Solar Park In Tacaratu This Year, Generating Over 600 Job Openings For The Local Community
This Thursday (03), representatives from Enel Green Power met via videoconference with Governor Paulo Câmara (PSB) to present plans for the solar energy sector in Pernambuco. The main idea is that the new solar park will generate 600 new job openings for local residents.

Part of Enel’s plan includes the installation of a solar power park, which promises to generate around 600 new direct jobs in Pernambuco. The park is set to be inaugurated this year in the city of Tacaratu and will have an expansion area of 59.4 hectares. In addition, the company states that it will invest approximately R$ 550 million in the solar energy project.
According to Paulo Câmara, during the meeting, topics such as the investments already being made in Tacaratu in both solar and wind energy were discussed. He expressed hope that partnerships like this, aimed at improving the future of Pernambuco, continue to grow and bring numerous job openings, income, and economic improvement to the community.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
Also present at the meeting were Roberto Abreu e Lima, president of the Pernambuco Economic Development Agency, Ana Paula Vilaça, executive secretary of Economic Development, Antônio Alexandre, planning coordinator of SDEC, and the CEO of Geração Brasil-Enel, Roberta Bonomi.
Other Investments By Enel In The Brazilian Solar Energy Market
The group announced in December 2020 that its subsidiary Enel Green Power Brasil had started installing its new solar generation projects in the Northeast, such as in Pernambuco, which promise to add 1.3 GW in capacity and will demand around R$ 5.6 billion.
The projects consist of four wind power parks and one solar power park and will primarily be supported by contracts for the future production sold to corporate clients in the free energy market, where industries can enter into contracts for electricity supply directly with generating and distributing companies.
Solar Energy Market In Pernambuco
Pernambuco is one of the northeastern states with one of the greatest potentials for solar energy generation, especially in the Sertão region, which has higher solar irradiation.
In Pernambuco, renewable energy is generating numerous job openings throughout the state, accounting for 79%, or about 77 thousand square kilometers. Around 100 projects are operational, and in addition to creating various job opportunities, they could also generate about 3.5 GW of capacity for the coming years. There are also 39 projects currently in the planning phase in the state.
