Enel Solar Power Plant in São Gonçalo Will Have More Than 2.2 Million Solar Panels
Enel Green Power has started commercial operations of a 133 MW expansion of the São Gonçalo solar power plant, which will total 864 MW when fully operational by the end of this year.

The construction of the first section of Enel’s solar power plant, comprising 475 MW, began in October 2018, connecting to the grid in January 2020.
In August 2019, Enel announced the start of construction for the 133 MW extension of the São Gonçalo solar park. An additional 256 MW expansion, which began construction in 2020, is expected to be operational in 2021.

The Entire Enel Solar Park of 864 MW Will Include More Than 2.2 Million Solar Panels
The total project is the largest solar power plant in South America and is located in São Gonçalo do Gurgueia, in northeastern Piauí, Brazil. The construction of the 133 MW section involved an investment of approximately € 100M.
Innovative Solar Energy Expansion
Enel Green Power’s CEO, Salvatore Bernabei, said, “The operational launch of the first expansion of the innovative solar park in São Gonçalo represents a significant step forward for Enel in Brazil, strengthening our leadership position in the country’s solar power generation market.”
