14-Inch and 16-Inch Models Will Feature the New Apple Silicon M5 Processor, 3nm Production and Possible Premiere in January, Before the Anticipated OLED Version Scheduled for 2026.
Apple is expected to launch the new MacBook Pro models of 14 and 16 inches with the M5 chip in early 2026, breaking away from the traditional October schedule and bringing more powerful processors made in 3nm, according to information released by Bloomberg and Apple Insider.
The new MacBook Pro models will be equipped with the M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips, produced by TSMC using N3P lithography, the third generation of the 3-nanometer process. This evolution is expected to bring moderate performance gains, maintaining a focus on energy efficiency and optimization for professional software.
Despite the internal advancement, the notebooks will not have significant changes in design or display in this update. The models will continue to feature LCD panels and the same form factor introduced in 2021. Visual changes and the adoption of OLED technology are only expected for a major structural overhaul planned for late 2026.

Few remember, but contaminated water turned Caruaru’s hemodialysis into one of Brazil’s biggest medical disasters, intoxicating 116 patients, leaving more than 50 dead, and revealing how an invisible toxin from cyanobacteria entered directly into the bloodstream during a treatment that was supposed to save lives.
In addition to the new chip, the computers are expected to offer Wi-Fi 7 support, a feature already present in the iPhone 16 lineup and absent in current models with M4. This faster connectivity is expected to improve the experience in tasks that require high transfer rates and network stability.
MacBook Pro Launch with M5 May Occur as Early as January
Historically, Apple releases new MacBook Pro models in October, but according to Bloomberg, the 2026 lineup may hit the market in early January or February. This change follows the pattern established in 2023 when the company introduced the models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in the first quarter.
The M5 chip will officially debut in the iPad Pro, still in 2025, marking the beginning of the new generation of Apple Silicon. This strategy mirrors the situation with the M4, which was also first launched in tablets before arriving in laptops.
The expectation of an earlier arrival may help Apple boost sales at the beginning of 2026, as the interval between the M4 and M5 will be approximately 18 months, the longest between generations of Apple Silicon processors.
Focus on Performance Until the Arrival of the Redesign with OLED
Although the upgrade is considered an interim update, Apple is preparing for a complete transformation of the MacBook Pro by the end of 2026. The next generation, featuring the M6 chip, will come with OLED displays, a thinner and lighter chassis, and overall build improvements, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the MacBook.
Until then, consumers needing a high-performance machine will find the models with the M5 chip to be the most updated option, with gains in processing, connectivity, and thermal efficiency. The expectation is that the price will remain similar to that of the models with M4, around US$ 2,000 for the base version in the United States.
According to information from Apple Insider, the M5 lineup will also include new MacBook Air models, which are expected to hit the market between March and June of 2026, following the debut of the professional models.
The information was disclosed by Bloomberg and Apple Insider, which highlighted details about Apple’s launch strategy and technical specifications for the new MacBook Pro. Both publications also emphasize that design updates and the adoption of OLED displays will only occur with the next generation, scheduled for late 2026.
