The Argentine President Javier Milei Did Not Hold Back When Referring to the President of Brazil, and the Situation Is Causing a Stir. What Happened to Reach This Point?
According to CNN, it all began with some rather harsh statements from Javier Milei regarding the President of Brazil, which shook the diplomatic structures between the countries. For many, this could even lead to a diplomatic rupture between Brazil and Argentina.
Javier Milei, the Argentine leader and an increasingly controversial figure in Latin America, has been at odds not only with the President of Brazil but also with several other ‘leaders’ in the region. Among the adversaries are countries like Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, and Bolivia. However, the tensions really escalated with Brazil, especially after Milei declined an invitation to the Mercosur meeting. The justification? A packed schedule.
Instead of attending the meeting, Milei was at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Santa Catarina and even met with former President Jair Bolsonaro.

What Did Javier Milei Say?
Milei did not hold back on social media, especially on “X” (formerly Twitter). He called the President of Brazil corrupt and accused the Brazilian government of interfering in the Argentine elections. On the other side, the Brazilian president responded by calling Milei stupid and saying that he owes an apology to Brazil.
Impact on Brazil-Argentina Relations
The situation between the two countries has never been so tense. Mercosur, which is already facing issues with the agreement with the European Union and the possible exit of Uruguay, could suffer even more from this dispute. The Itamaraty, in fact, found the attitude of the Argentine leader regrettable.
If this pace continues, a diplomatic rupture between Brazil and Argentina is not out of the question. The trade relationship between the two is very important, but with these leaders at odds, things could get quite complicated.
