Influencer Shows Step By Step of Homemade Decoration That Saves Money, Delights Children and Inspires Creativity to Celebrate Halloween with Family
A father who is a fan of “do it yourself” caught attention on social media by sharing a project that combines creativity, savings, and family spirit. With a profile on TikTok @dadsocial, he posted a video showing how he built a Halloween pumpkin arch for his front door, avoiding spending hundreds of dollars on a pre-made item. The result impressed both followers and his own family.
Right at the beginning of the video, the creator jokes about the situation: “POV: You are a husband and told your wife you could build this for a lower price,” while showcasing the various plastic pumpkins that make up the structure of the arch.
The Idea of Concrete Pumpkins Came Up in a Store
Smith told PEOPLE magazine that he first saw a pre-made pumpkin-shaped door arch in a store but was sure he could reproduce something similar on his own.

A large part of the Netherlands lies below sea level and remains dry only because an invisible machine of dikes, pumps, and giant gates works nonstop, a system born from the tragedy of 1953, when the North Sea invaded the country and killed 1,836 people.

The largest bridge in Finland has just been inaugurated and cars simply cannot pass on it; only trams, bicycles, and pedestrians are allowed to cross the 1.2 km giant with a 135-meter pillar over the Baltic Sea.

Larger than Belgium and nestled at the mouth of the Amazon, Marajó Island is a giant that Brazil has forgotten, surrounded by water and energy on all sides, yet still isolated, poor, and dependent on diesel brought by barge.

Weighing as much as nine nuclear aircraft carriers, the Pioneering Spirit is the largest ship ever built and was made for a single task that no other machine in the world can accomplish: removing entire oil platforms from the seabed of the North Sea in one go.
According to him, there is a personal tradition of adding a new item to the decoration every year, without discarding the old pieces.
This year, the initial intention was to buy the arch he saw at Home Depot in his town. However, after measuring, he realized that the product was only half the size of his door and cost almost 300 dollars at the time.
It was at that moment that he decided to take on the challenge and create his own version.
Concrete Pumpkins: Step By Step Construction Process
The video shows Smith mixing concrete to fill the larger pumpkins, which serve as the base on each side of the arch.
He positions the bottom ends of the pipes into the cement, ensuring the structure’s stability.
After that, he drills all the other plastic pumpkins to thread the pipes and assemble the desired shape.
The complete project took a total of 3 hours, from start to finish, according to him.
In addition to the arch, Smith also created a ghost fan. For this, he installed a used ceiling fan and tied fishing lines with ghosts attached to the ends of each blade, creating the illusion that they are flying around the porch.
Family Reaction and Personal Motivation
The family’s response was, in Smith’s words, priceless. His wife initially asked where he had bought the arch and, upon discovering it was made by him, was even more impressed.
The children liked it right away, but at night, seeing the illuminated decoration, they absolutely loved it.
For Smith, more than the projects themselves, what matters is sharing them with those he loves. Among other creations are a replica of Peppa Pig’s house for his daughter and an electric cart trailer made so that the kids can take it camping with the family in the summer.
He sums up his motivation simply: he loves to create and enhance things that make people smile, and each new project is born from that same desire to spread joy at home.
