The Activity Was Conducted for Maintenance and Security Assessment Purposes at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin and Also for Enauta to Continue Its Production
Enauta informed the market on Monday, the 8th, that the maintenance shutdown at the Atlanta field in the Santos Basin is nearing completion. The action, aimed at improving safety and maintaining the Santos Basin, is expected to be completed in the coming days.
The progressive return of production at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin is scheduled for mid-August, when commissioning of the new water treatment unit and equipment that underwent maintenance during the period will begin, along with complementary services on the FPSO Petrojarl I. According to Enauta, production at the Atlanta field will be normalized by September.
“The maintenance work carried out by Enauta at the Santos Basin has not identified any situation that could jeopardize the extension of the Charter and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contracts [of the FPSO Petrojarl I] for up to two years,” stated Enauta.

Enauta also added that the scheduled maintenance shutdown aimed to meet the regulatory requirements of the Ministry of Labor, as well as to prepare the FPSO for recertification by DNV (Det Norske Veritas).
“If recertification is obtained, it will be possible to extend Enauta’s contractual agreement and allow continuous production until the Definitive Production System is in place, expected by mid-2024,” it reported.
As a reminder, the new development plan for the Atlanta field validated by ANP (Agência Nacional do Petróleo) requested that Enauta begin operations of the FPSO of the Definitive System (SD) by June 30, 2024. The FPSO OSX-2, which will be installed in Enauta’s SD in the Santos Basin, will have a production capacity of production of 50,000 barrels of oil and processing of 140,000 barrels of water per day.
Petrobras Will Advance on the Optical Mesh Project at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin This August
Petrobras plans to advance this month with the implementation of the Optical Mesh Project at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin, an initiative aimed at increasing capacity and safety in real-time data transmission from offshore platforms.
In total, the project at the Atlanta Field will include a trunk cable of 833 kilometers, connecting Balneário beach in the city of Praia Grande, São Paulo, to Macumba beach in Rio de Janeiro. In response to queries from Petronotícias, Petrobras confirmed that it has completed the necessary work in Praia Grande.
Meanwhile, the work at Macumba beach has been postponed until the end of August. The completion of this phase on the coast of Rio is expected by the end of 2022.
The Optical Mesh Project at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin plans to have two fiber optic cable landings, one at Macumba beach and the other at Balneário beach. Both locations are already known for being landing points for fiber optic lines from telecommunications companies.
The work to be carried out this month at Macumba beach involves constructing transition boxes on the walkways and high-density polyethylene tubes for the future fiber optics. At this time, Petrobras’ expectation is to have the fiber optic network available by December 2023.
