Ubatuba Combines Preserved Nature, Over One Hundred Beaches, Clear Water Islands, and Recognized Environmental Projects, Attracting Visitors from Brazil and Abroad.

Located on the northern coast of São Paulo, Ubatuba has established itself as the main beach destination in the Southeast by leading a survey from the Datafolha Institute about the preferred places for Brazilians to enjoy the sea.

With over one hundred stretches of sand, clear water islands, and recognized conservation projects, the municipality has begun to attract not only tourists from across the country but visitors from various parts of the world.

Ubatuba Leads Ranking of Beaches in the Southeast

The most recent survey from Datafolha pointed out Ubatuba as the best beach in the Southeast and one of the main coastal destinations in Brazil.

The city received significant mentions as a preferred destination, surpassing national references in the perception of the interviewees.

This visibility reinforced the municipality’s image as a reference for those seeking a coastline with preserved nature, good tourist infrastructure, and options for different traveler profiles.

At the same time, the result placed the northern coast of São Paulo on the map for those planning medium and long trips, including foreigners interested in ecologically appealing destinations.

Over 100 Beaches Between the Mountain and the Sea

Between the Serra do Mar and the Atlantic, Ubatuba boasts more than 100 beaches distributed over approximately 83 kilometers of coastline.

There are urban segments with kiosks, promenades, and accommodations just meters from the sand.

There are also virtually untouched coves, accessible only by trails or boat.

The city is part of one of the largest continuous areas of Preserved Atlantic Forest in the country.

Ubatuba on the northern coast of SP is elected the best beach in the Southeast, with over 100 stretches of sand, clear water islands, and sustainable tourism.

A large part of the territory is part of the Serra do Mar State Park, especially the Picinguaba Core.

The location protects beaches like Fazenda, Picinguaba, Brava da Almada, and Camburi, in addition to the area of the Anchieta Island State Park.

Trails, viewpoints, and diving spots complement the experience of direct contact with preserved environments.

This combination of dense forest, rugged hills, and small bays creates varied landscapes over short distances.

In just a few kilometers, it’s possible to leave a beach with calm waters suitable for families and arrive at another one with strong waves, sought after by surfers.

Surf Capital and Destination for All Profiles

Recognized as “Surf Capital”, Ubatuba is the birthplace of prominent athletes and a frequent venue for national and international competitions.

Beaches like Itamambuca, Félix, and Vermelha do Norte offer consistent waves throughout the year.

The movement of surfers is constant in practically all seasons.

Even those who do not practice the sport find suitable options.

There are shallow water beaches, favored by families with children.

Other smaller coves with less infrastructure cater to those who prefer silence and a sense of isolation.

The surrounding islands, such as Ilha das Couves, complete the scenery.

Boat trips to these clear water areas have become one of the main attractions for observing marine life.

The practice of recreational diving and underwater photography has gained momentum, with access control to reduce environmental impacts.

TAMAR Project and Sustainable Tourism

The municipality also stands out for its conservation agenda.

The Ubatuba base of the TAMAR Project Foundation was inaugurated in 1991 and is the only one installed in an area where sea turtles feed on the São Paulo coast.

The visitor center receives a large volume of tourists every year interested in the species protection work.

The facility includes tanks, aquariums, panels, and themed spaces focused on environmental education.

Created in 1980, the TAMAR Project is internationally recognized as one of the world’s most successful marine conservation experiences.

The initiative protects the five species of turtles found along the Brazilian coast.

In Ubatuba, actions combine scientific research, management, and educational programs with schools, tourists, and regional communities.

Guided tours, children’s activities, and exhibitions bring the public closer to themes such as habitat preservation, responsible fishing, and reducing ocean waste.

Infrastructure, Services, and Hospitality

In addition to natural attractions, the urban center of Ubatuba offers bars, restaurants, inns, hotels, and shops aimed at travelers.

The infrastructure caters to everything from weekend tourism to longer stays.

There are options ranging from simple accommodations to higher standard establishments.

The local cuisine emphasizes seafood and caissara culture.

Dishes with fish, shrimp, and traditional recipes stand out alongside varied cuisines.

The trade in nautical tours, transfers, and guided activities has grown in recent years.

This movement reinforces tourist flow during holidays, school vacations, and the peak summer season.

Even with this expansion, a significant part of the territory remains in environmental protection areas.

The limits on occupation help preserve stretches of forest and beaches with low levels of human intervention.

This combination of organized infrastructure and environmental legislation supports Ubatuba’s appeal as a destination aligned with conservation.

Brazil in Spotlight in International Beach Ranking

The recognition of the Brazilian coastline is not limited to the northern coast of São Paulo.

In a recent ranking developed by institutions specializing in environmental management, five beaches in the country were listed among the highest-rated in the Americas and Europe.

Ponta de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, on Ilha dos Frades in Salvador, reached the top among the beaches in the Americas and ranks among the best in the world.

Other Brazilian destinations also gained prominent positions.

Praia do Forte and Praia do Estaleiro, both in Santa Catarina, were evaluated for their balance between preserved nature and infrastructure.

Prainha, in Rio de Janeiro, stood out for its protected surroundings and access control.

Meanwhile, Praia dos Cardeiros, in Fazenda Roberto Marinho in São Pedro da Aldeia, is among the top twenty beaches.

Meanwhile, Ubatuba strengthens its prominence by bringing together over one hundred beaches, state parks, islands for nautical tourism, and consolidated initiatives for environmental education.

With so many possibilities gathered in a single municipality, which experience best aligns with the type of trip you are seeking in this paradise of the São Paulo coastline?
