White Martins Joins Eneva in Solar Energy Project
White Martins has signed an agreement with Eneva to participate in the solar power generation project at the Futura I Solar Complex, located in Juazeiro, Bahia. The partnership is aligned with the company’s global sustainable development strategy and its efforts to combat climate change. The agreement was approved without restrictions by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade).
Futura I Solar Complex, One of the Largest Photovoltaic Parks in the World
The Futura I Solar Complex is one of the largest photovoltaic parks in the Americas and the world. Installed on an area equivalent to 1,550 soccer fields, the complex has approximately 1.5 million solar panels. The energy generated will predominantly be supplied to White Martins.
Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
By replacing electricity from conventional energy sources with solar energy, White Martins expects to reduce its scope 2 emissions in Brazil by 25%. The agreement also supports Linde’s 2035 climate goal, the parent company of White Martins, which aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions 1 and 2 by 35% by 2035, compared to 2021.

Strategic Partnership Between White Martins and Eneva
The negotiations between the companies aim to employ new energy sources at an increasing scale in White Martins’ production processes throughout Brazil. The partnership is already consolidating as one of the main self-production contracts in the Brazilian free market.
Eneva Expands Presence in the Renewable Energy Market
The Futura Solar Complex was acquired by Eneva from Focus Energia in March 2022. The acquisition aligns with Eneva’s long-term strategic vision, which seeks to increase its participation in renewable energies and the free energy market. The company invested R$ 2.9 billion in the construction of the complex. Additionally, the project has the potential for expansion, with Futura II and Futura III parks capable of adding 2.3 GW of installed capacity to the complex.
In summary, the partnership between White Martins and Eneva aims to boost solar energy generation in Brazil through the Futura I Solar Complex, one of the largest photovoltaic parks in the world. The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainability in the energy sector.
