The New Wind Farm by Engie in the State of Bahia Begins to Take Shape

Engie announced on Tuesday that the Campo Largo IX wind farm in Bahia has received authorization from Aneel to start operations today, February 23.

The wind farm in Bahia has an installed capacity of 25.2 MW and is part of the Campo Largo II Wind Complex, which consists of a set of wind energy generation projects with an installed capacity of 361.2 MW, with energy fully directed to the Free Contracting Environment (ACL).

Aneel Authorizes the Wind Farm of the Campo Largo II Complex in Bahia

The wind farm authorized by Aneel is part of the Campo Largo II Wind Complex, located in the municipality of Umburanas, Bahia, approximately 420 km from Salvador/Bahia, in the same region where the company commercially operates the Campo Largo and Umburanas Wind Complexes, thus benefiting from the synergy of existing structures, such as the substation and transmission line, according to the company.

Following the completion of the second phase of Campo Largo, expected to finish in the third quarter of 2021, the installed capacity of wind energy from Engie Brasil Energia will surpass the 1 GW mark in the region.

Aneel Plans to Release More Than 4,000 MW for Commercial Operation

The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) plans to release around 4,790.48 megawatts (MW) for commercial operation in 2021. Just in January, Aneel’s audit released 159.67 MW for commercial operation, including 135.99 MW (85% of the total) in wind generation projects, 17.70 MW (11%) in hydropower from small hydropower plants, and 5.98 MW (4%) from thermal power plants.
