Petrobras Initiates Testing in the Forno Area, in the Pre-Salt of the Campos Basin
Following the announcement made on May 11, 2020, Petrobras reported that it began on Saturday (May 16) the Long Duration Test (LDT) in the area of the Forno Discovery Assessment Plan, in the Albacora oil field, located in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin.
According to Petrobras, the test is being conducted at well 3-AB-125-RJS (3-BRSA-1123-RJS), located approximately 120 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
This will be the first Long Duration Test conducted in the pre-salt of the Albacora field.
The state-owned company states that the Long Duration Test aims to evaluate the reservoir’s behavior during production and the characteristics of its oil.
The technical information collected during the testing phase will support the complementary development of the field, which is part of the Albacora revitalization project, of which Forno is a part.
“Having a reserve in this area of the pre-salt, below the post-salt reservoir, is important because it opens up a perspective for the field and its revitalization,” said Carlos Alberto Pereira de Oliveira, Petrobras’s Exploration & Production Director, in a statement.
