With a donation of 1 million reais, Petrobras aims to enable the restoration of at least 100 devices.
The investment made by Petrobras will support 39 maintenance centers for ventilators coordinated by SENAI, distributed across 20 states and the Federal District, dedicated to restoring equipment and assisting in the treatment of patients infected with the new coronavirus.
The benefiting centers will receive damaged devices sent by public hospitals from all over Brazil.
“Ventilators are essential to save people’s lives, but the major issue we are facing is their scarcity in the market. We realized that the maintenance of damaged equipment could help mitigate this problem. We conducted extensive research to reach this initiative led by SENAI, which has become a reference throughout the country. It is a true task force of solidarity that is already yielding good results and is only expected to expand going forward,” said the initiative leader at Petrobras, Luiz Augusto de Andrade.
Volunteer Network
This effort to recover mechanical ventilators is part of a wide network dubbed the “+ Maintenance of Respirators Initiative” led by SENAI and CNI, which encompasses numerous volunteer companies from across the country with various profiles.
The initiative has already accumulated significant results: since it began operating, in March it has returned over 500 repaired ventilators to health institutions throughout the country.
In addition to Petrobras, the volunteer network includes the National Service for Industrial Learning (SENAI), ArcelorMittal, BMW Group, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai Motor Brasil, Institute of Technological Research (IPT) and POLI-USP, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, Moto Honda, Renault, Scania, Toyota, Troller, Usiminas, Vale, Volkswagen do Brasil, and Volvo do Brasil. The + Maintenance of Respirators Initiative also has the support of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economy, the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), and ABEClin.
