Petrobras Confirmed In Meeting Held At Its Headquarters In Rio de Janeiro On Tuesday, May 28 That It Will Invest About R$ 792 Million In Rio Grande Do Norte.
On Tuesday, May 28, a meeting was held at Petrobras’ headquarters in Rio de Janeiro between the oil company and representatives of the government, where the objective was to discuss the state company’s investment plans in Rio Grande do Norte in the coming years.
In the meeting, the state company assured Governor Fátima Bezerra, Senator Jean-Paul Prates, and Federal Deputy João Maia, that it will invest in Rio Grande do Norte US$ 198 million, about R$ 792 million, which represents four times more than last year’s investment.

The amount comes from a total of US$ 668 million (R$ 2.6 billion) – An expenditure that Petrobras has estimated for 2019 in the Potiguar Basin.
The assurance was given by Petrobras President Roberto Castello Branco, who confirmed that the state company will maintain a presence in about 60% of the onshore fields and plans to invest in the Clara Camarão refinery in Guamaré.
Regarding the Pitu Field, located in the municipality of Guamaré, Petrobras informed that the field is highly promising and will be the subject of study.
Federal Deputy João Maia considered that “the most positive aspect of this meeting was the governor’s honesty about the situation of Rio Grande do Norte before Petrobras, as well as the availability of the president and the board of the state company to address our pending issues through dialogue.”
Also participating in the meeting were State Secretary of Planning Aldemir Freire and the director of the Potiguar Gas Company (Potigás), Marina Melo.
