The ANP Notification Came After Petrobras Suspended The Sale Of Aviation Fuel
Petrobras and BR Distribuidora received a notification from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), which is related to an investigative process concerning the sale of aviation fuel (GAV) deemed outside the specification standards in Brazil. The process occurred after BR suspended the sale of fuel to its direct customers and resellers on Wednesday, already with suspicion that there was some adulteration in the product intended for small aircraft.

The two companies have a few hours to provide clarifications. The ANP informed that Petrobras was once again notified yesterday, Friday (5), to provide any additional data regarding the movement and quality of the volume of GAV that was produced outside the provisions of the legislation and sold by the Presidente Bernardes Refinery, located in Cubatão/SP.
Agency technicians have been at the refinery since Wednesday investigating the occurrence and have already collected fuel samples for laboratory analysis. The Presidente Bernardes Refinery is the only facility producing aviation gasoline in Brazil.

“The ANP is working with all economic agents operating in the GAV supply chain to ensure supply and safety in the use of the product,” the agency stated in a note released during the week.
The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels was established in 1997 through Law No. 9,478. The ANP is the body that regulates the activities attributed to the oil, natural gas, and biofuels industries in Brazil. The agency has been operational since January 14, 1998.
