More than 40 Petrobras platforms enter the decommissioning queue and open up a billion-dollar industry in Brazil for cranes, special ships, underwater cutting, and offshore recycling.
Discoveries of both, that is, of oil and gas, occurred in the Campos, Santos, Parnaíba, and Sergipe-Alagoas basins.
The indications of onshore oil and gas were: seven in the Parnaíba Basin (Eneva); five in Recôncavo (2 Petrobras, 2 Great Energy, and 1 Imetame) and three in Espírito Santo (BGM).
The offshore discoveries were made by Shell (1 Alto de Cabo Frio Central and others in South of Gato do Mato); Equinor (North of Carcará), and Petrobras (3 Sergipe-Alagoas, 1 Campos, and 1 Santos).
However, this advance is still far below the Brazilian historical peak, which was in 2012, when there were 174 discoveries (86 offshore and 88 onshore), according to the ANP. That year alone, Petrobras accounted for more than 50% of all discoveries made in the country.
