Asphalt Sales Volume in 2023 Shows Petrobras’ Commitment to Refinery Park, Distributors, and Paving, Driving Higher Sales.
Petrobras’ record asphalt sales reached an unprecedented level in 2023, with the sale of 2.5 million tons of the product, the highest quantity since 2014. The operational efficiency and availability of the refinery park were essential to meet the growing demand, stemming from paving projects by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) and other government agencies.
Asphalt is sold to distributors, who market the product to end customers, and this record sales figure is a result of the commercial conditions created by Petrobras. According to the company’s acting Director of Marketing, Logistics, and Markets, Daniel Sales Correa, ‘Petrobras has a very well-structured logistics system and a rigorous respect for contracts, ensuring we deliver the product, even during periods of high demand’. This reliability in asphalt sales is crucial not only for the company’s profitability but for the entire production chain.

Growth in the Refinery Park
The growth in the refinery park has enabled the sale of high-quality asphalt, meeting the demands for durable and high-resistance materials for paving. This evolution in the production process has driven asphalt sales in various regions of the country.
Highway Concessions Drive Sales
Highway concessions have been a major driver of asphalt sales, as they require large quantities of the material for the maintenance and construction of new roads. This has significantly contributed to the expansion of asphalt sales, creating opportunities for companies in the sector.
