The New Platform That Will Be Installed by Petrobras Will Contribute to Reducing Greenhouse Gases
Petrobras, the Brazilian oil giant, is preparing a revolution in the energy sector by announcing the installation of the first platform with fully electrified (all-electric) combined cycle systems in Brazil, expected in 2025. This innovative technology aims not only to enhance operational efficiency but also to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to Época Negócios.
The confirmation of the installation date for this revolutionary platform, called FPSO Maria Quitéria, will take place in the Jubarte field, located in the pre-salt Campos Basin. The announcement was made by Eduarda Lacerda, General Manager of the Exploration and Production Business Unit of Petrobras in Espírito Santo.
New Energy Horizons
During the opening of MEC Show 2023, the Metalworking and Industrial Innovation Fair of Espírito Santo, Eduarda Lacerda also revealed other visionary projects from Petrobras for the state. One of the notable initiatives is the study for the implementation of an offshore wind farm in the southern coastal region of Espírito Santo.

Within the 2023-2027 Business Plan, the company plans to manage three of the five platforms envisaged in the Campos Basin. Petrobras is committed to expanding its horizons beyond oil and gas production, aiming for the generation of clean and sustainable energy.
Legacy and Innovation
With nearly 70 years of history, Petrobras considers Espírito Santo a key piece in its journey. With a presence of 66 years in the state, the company highlights the importance of the region in its path. Lacerda reminded that it was in Espírito Santo that landmark episodes occurred, such as the drilling of the first well at sea and the inauguration of the first production in the pre-salt, which celebrates its 15 years in 2023. This milestone reflects Petrobras’ constant innovation and its pursuit of advanced technological solutions.
Advanced Robotics in Industry
At the MEC Show 2023, Petrobras’ booth will feature an intriguing attraction: a circuit simulating an operational area for the demonstration of the robot “Anymal D”. This cutting-edge robot specializes in safety operations. With the capability to perform autonomous inspections in industrial environments of offshore platforms and refineries, the “Anymal D” has considerable potential to enhance efficiency and safety in operations.
Its innovative design allows the robot to climb and descend stairs, avoid obstacles, and identify nearby hazards. Petrobras emphasizes that this is the first robot of its kind on the market, representing another step in the quest for cutting-edge technologies.
Petrobras is paving the way for transformation in the Brazilian energy sector by announcing the creation of the first all-electric platform in 2025, in addition to its investments in clean energy, such as the offshore wind farm. With a rich and innovative history, the company reinforces its presence in Espírito Santo and demonstrates its commitment to cutting-edge technological solutions like the robot “Anymal D”. Petrobras, which has always been at the forefront of change, continues to position itself as a leader in the pursuit of a more efficient and sustainable energy industry.
