Third edition of the Ocyan Waves Challenge focuses on solutions to challenges and technologies to create new activities for the company
Rio de Janeiro, April 29, 2021 – Ocyan, which operates in the Oil & Gas sector, opens today (29) registration for startups present innovative solutions to challenges proposed by the company. To the startups selected will have support for the development of a pilot project on the spot and may become suppliers or partners of the company. Those interested have until the day May 19 to access the Ocyan Waves Challenge program information and register your proposals through the website www.ocyanwaves.com.
“Ocyan Waves is evolving. Since its launch two years ago, we have matured the program and now, in addition to the search for startups that present solutions to the challenges posed by various areas of the company, we are looking for entrepreneurs who can develop solutions, together with our teams, linked to adjacent activities to our current business.”, explains Rodrigo Lemos, Innovation and New Business Director.

This year, nine challenges were chosen, six of which will be presented to the Innovation ecosystem and bring potential for hiring or partnership for startups, two will be developed by startups who have participated in the program in previous years and, for the first time, a challenge will be developed by a startup foreign.
The six challenges, with open registration, presented in this third edition of the Ocyan Waves Challenge, are:
- Reduction of Diesel Consumption and Gas Emissions from Motor Generators;
- Increase Productivity and Reduce Typing in Field Survey;
- Reduction in the number of consultations for periodic face-to-face exams at the Macaé base;
- Difficulty in Inspecting Systems with Thermal Insulation due to the Need for Removal;
- Intelligent Inspection of Drops (Risk of Equipment Falls);
- Access to Updated Documented Information in the Operational Area;
“The evolution of our program was so positive that two of the challenges presented by the company's areas for this year's edition will be developed by startups who participated in the program in previous years and became our suppliers in ongoing projects. They are Vidya, from Paraná, and Delphi, from Ceará. Vidya will be left with the challenge of resolving the Difficulty in Monitoring FPSO Integrity, and Delphi with what it deals with Prediction of Failures in Motorgenerators. Therefore, they will not be opened for registration. This was an important step towards showing that startups they have already managed to create a flow of innovation for the oil and gas industry and they continue to work with us”, celebrates Rodrigo Lemos.
Another novelty is the startup found for the challenge that seeks a Non-intrusive solution to detect leaks in valves. Because it has a higher level of complexity, for the first time a search was carried out in other countries, and the startup Norwegian company ConditionAll was chosen.
