The MA-34 Well, in the Campos Basin, Was Connected to the P-08 Platform and Proved to Be a Great Success for Trident Energy by Achieving a High Oil Production Rate and Increasing the Company’s Oil Volume
Last Friday, May 27th, the Pampo region in the Campos Basin became a major highlight regarding oil production thanks to the new project completed by Trident Energy. The company successfully connected the MA-34 well to the P-08 platform to increase oil barrel production, and the results are already quite satisfactory.
Tests Conducted by Trident Energy Indicate That the MA-34 Well Is Already the Top Oil Producer Across All Its Operations
The company spent a week ramping up and stabilizing to obtain the best possible results from the tests conducted on the MA-34 well, and the numbers were astonishing: the well produced around 4,400 barrels of oil per day, becoming a significant oil producer on a global scale and the top producer of all Trident Energy’s operations to date.
However, it is important to note that there is also an expectation that this productivity rate may decline as the MA-34 well undergoes transitional conditions. Still, the numbers hover around approximately 2,000 barrels of oil per day, which still results in a good productivity rate for oil, showcasing Trident Energy’s potential.

Even before the first drilling on the Brazilian Equatorial Margin, a wave of migrants is pressuring Oiapoque, expanding precarious occupations and transforming the city of Amapá into the new epicenter of the oil rush in the Amazon.
Additionally, it is important to remember that all the excellent results obtained are the result of extensive study, as numerous pressure tests of the flow lines were conducted, for instance, to ensure that the connection of the MA-34 well to the P-08 platform would be successful. To further reinforce this security, the integration of a new umbilical to the platform’s control system was also performed.
After Facing Many Challenges, The Completion of The MA-34 Well Is The Result of The Efforts of Many Hands That Worked Unceasingly
The plans to increase production in Pampo, in the Campos Basin, required substantial effort from the Trident Energy team. This is what the company’s senior project engineer, Andrew Simpson, says when commenting on the top oil producer of its operations: “More than 11 contractors and suppliers came together to execute the offshore project and, thanks to their hard work and professionalism, the MA-34 well now exceeds production expectations.”
Finding an offshore installation contractor was one of the greatest difficulties encountered in the project, which considerably delayed the advancement of the M4-34 well. It is worth mentioning that the project began development in late 2020, and besides the aforementioned problem, it also had to search for a suitable installation vessel for longer than expected, resulting once again in delays. Finally, thanks to this continuous search, Trident Energy ended up being responsible for executing the project we know today.
It is a remarkable achievement for a company still so new in Brazil, as Trident Energy entered the country in 2020, the same year the operations of the MA-34 well began, after acquiring the Enchova and Pampo clusters directly from Petrobrás.
With the completion of this stage, the expectation is that the company will continue developing new projects in the Pampo region, in the Campos Basin, Rio de Janeiro, thus increasing the production of oil barrels in Brazilian lands, just like the successful MA-34. With the experience gained from this project, such as the need to execute the project by itself, Trident Energy is more than qualified to move on to the next endeavor.
