Imetame Port advances in construction and completes strategic stage of container terminal in Aracruz, Espírito Santo.
A construction The Port of Imetame, in the municipality of Aracruz, north of Espírito Santo — about 80 km from the capital Vitória — has just reached a significant milestone: the completion of the first 230 meters of the container terminal.
The project, which is scheduled to open in the second half of 2026, is moving along at a fast pace and promises to transform the region's port logistics. The forecast for this first phase is 750 meters of quay, with the part already completed representing almost a third of the total.

With a current depth of 17 meters — and plans to reach 25 meters in the future —, the Port of Imetame was designed to receive large vessels, such as the New Post Panamax class container ships.

According to the company's schedule, the terminal will begin operations with two berths.
It is estimated that, in its first year of operation, the new port will handle around 80 containers and 500 tons of general cargo.
The infrastructure of the initial phase was planned to guarantee an annual movement of 300 thousand TEUs.
When at full capacity, the Port of Imetame will have the potential to operate up to 1 million TEUs per year, consolidating itself as one of the main logistics hubs in the country.
International standards and commitment to deadlines
According to Geraldo Magela Giacomin Pereira, interim director of Imetame Logística Porto, the completed section follows strict technical standards.
“We have achieved an important milestone in our project with the completion of the first 230m of the container dock. This milestone confirms our commitment to the delivery schedule for the Port, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2026,” he highlighted.
The director also reported that at this stage all the concreting, basic infrastructure and horizontal road signage works have already been carried out, meeting international safety and traffic control standards.
Imetame Port targets global connections
The ambition of the the project goes beyond national transportation.
The terminal's goal is to “receive the largest ships in the world” and position itself as a strategic logistics center, integrating trade routes between Brazil, Mercosur countries and, especially, with services that serve Asia.
With this vision, the Port of Imetame seeks to strengthen the logistical competitiveness of Espírito Santo and attract new international commercial flows.
